Love it when we come across old photos - where it all began…

Since 1938, we have had the privilege of serving the people of New Cumnock and the surrounding communities with care, compassion, and dignity.

What began at our original premises in Mossmark, New Cumnock — alongside a joiner’s workshop — became more than a business; it became our families commitment to supporting local families through some of life’s most difficult moments.

When the business came into the Muir family name in 1938, a tradition of personal, family-led service began — a tradition we are proud to continue today.

Now led by 3rd generation Funeral Director Alex Muir, alongside his wife Jayne and his son Robbie, our business has moved into its 4th generation of family service. Together with our team, we remain dedicated to providing the same trusted support, respect, and attention to detail that families have relied upon for over 85 years.

Alongside moving into our brand new parlour at Castlemains Avenue a few years ago, over the past 15 years, we have also expanded our presence with offices in Auchinleck and Kirkconnel allowing us to support a wider circle of communities while continuing to offer the same personal and professional care that has always been at the heart of what we do.
