We’re thrilled to announce the official opening of our newly refurbished paediatric waiting area which is now a calm, engaging and neurodivergent-friendly space designed especially for children and young people.

The redesign features sensory toys, an infinity mirror, colourful murals and new seating, all in a quieter part of the UTC to reduce sensory noise. This space is all about comfort, distraction and creating a sense of safety for our young patients.

A huge thank you to Sign It for their support with graphics and to Lymington Rotary Club for funding the project. Our continual thanks, as ever, go to the very supportive Friends of the Hospital.

The space is dedicated to the memory of our much-loved colleague, Charlotte Bye, who inspired us all. We were delighted to have been joined by Charlotte's parents for the opening of the waiting area.

WE’RE GOING FULL CIRCLE FOR MACMILLAN! 🚴‍♂️

On 26th June, Team PHL Group will be tackling the full loop of the Isle of Wight – that’s over 60 miles of hills, headwinds, and heroic amounts of jelly babies – all to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support

If you saw our first post and thought, “I should probably donate…” this is your second (slightly guiltier) reminder 😅

Whether it’s £1 or £100, every donation helps us go that extra mile – and gives the team an excuse to wear Lycra in public.

👏 Give a hand to our brave cyclists Ross Brand, Remus Manole, Nick Jones, Grant Paul-Florence, Chris Brand, Sally Parsons, Andrew Ross, Deborah Lloyd, Theresa Bull, Lee Pinhorn and Pete!

Happy Tick Season!

Ticks are small, spider-like creatures which feed on the blood of birds and mammals, including humans. They are common in the New Forest and can be found anywhere outdoors, such as grassy or wooded areas.

Ticks do not need to be removed by a healthcare professional as it is usually straight forward and easy to do...

Here’s what to do if you are bitten by a tick...
1 The best way to remove a tick is with a pair of fine-tipped tweezers or a tick removal tool
2 Grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible
3 Pull upwards, slowly and firmly. Don’t worry if the head remains in, as any left-over parts of the tick will be expelled by the skin
4 Clean the bite area with antibacterial wash/soap and water and monitor it for 6-8 weeks for any changes.

On International Nurses Day yesterday, some of our incredible PHL Group nurses had the honour of attending the Florence Nightingale Foundation Commemoration Service at Westminster Abbey.

Held annually on this special day, the service celebrates the legacy of Florence Nightingale and recognises the dedication, compassion, and impact of nurses everywhere.

It was a powerful reminder of the vital role nurses play in delivering safe, brilliant care – something we see every day across PHL Group.

To all our nurses: thank you. We are so proud of you.

PHL Group CEO Ross Brand and Auriol Cleaning Services Director Nick Jones were out early on the recent Bank Holiday Monday getting some miles in training for the PHL Round The Island Charity Ride in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, when they happened across Dr Ann Carey and Driver Michael McDonald coming to the end of their home visiting night shift in Waterlooville.

A busy night for the team but not too busy to pose for a picture with Ross & Nick!
