Not my usual shoe post today — we are talking paws!

As part of my little girl’s journey from nursery to “big school,” she was given a lovely little mouse as a transitional toy to help ease the change. It was such a thoughtful gesture from the schools, and Flo has completely fallen in love with her new friend.

So much so, that when Mouse goes missing (whether hiding under the sofa, staying at Granny’s, or just out of sight), it quickly becomes full-blown *meltdown mode*. Add to the mix a one-year-old sibling who also wants this magical little creature — and, well, you can imagine the chaos!

To help other local parents who might be facing the same drama, I’ve decided to stock the very same mouse in the shop. Whether you’re looking for a backup, a peacekeeper, or simply want to avoid the bedtime hunt — I’ve got you covered.

Because I get it. I really do. 💛

Today, I felt PROUD to be a New Miller. 🐝🌧️🎉

The rain came, yet every face beamed with a smile. Fun was had, memories were made, we and our town came together to celebrate the Animal Kingdom in true New Mills style. We danced in the rain like everyone was watching 💛

I was incredibly lucky to have my little baby bumblebees by my side—to share the magic, make memories, and bring my window display to life.

A huge thank you to New Mills Carnival for awarding me *Best Dressed Window*—an honour that truly shocked and touched me. With the incredible effort from businesses up and down the high street and the amazing creativity of all the carnival participants, New Mills came alive with a mighty ROAR!🦁✨

I will treasure this day spent with my family, this award, and the joyful spirit of this beautiful community. 💛

✨🐝 The Animal Kingdom 🐝✨

This year’s carnival theme is The Animal Kingdom—a celebration of all creatures and the stories they carry. I chose the bee.

Bees are small, but mighty. They are essential, tireless, and symbolic. For me, the bee represents hope, memory, and community—and of course, Manchester. 🐝💛

To bring them to life, I crafted my bees using orthopaedic lasts—forms used to shape shoes. Each one is different, like us. This felt like the perfect way to honour the diversity of the animal kingdom and remind us that every creature, every person, leaves a unique footprint on the earth.

Almost 31 years around the sun 🌞

As I begin my celebrations for another trip around the sun, and like my very first birthday, this day holds more meaning than just cake and candles.

30 years ago, my first birthday was also a VE Day celebration—marking victory, remembrance, and resilience. While my family toasted to my first year of life, they also honoured the countless lives that shaped our history.

Now, 31 years on, I feel deeply humbled reflecting on the weight of this day. As I celebrate life, I also pause to remember the sacrifices, the courage, and the stories that VE Day carries with it.

Grateful. Grounded. Remembering.

One of my lovely customers walked into the shop — and as always, she brought magic with her. Sketches, swatches, hand-painted designs… every visit is like unwrapping a box of creativity.

This time? She brought her handbag along — because what better way to get a perfect match than to *design* your shoes to go with it? Genius.

Every pair we make has her signature touch: a tiny daisy, delicately placed somewhere on the shoe. It’s more than just a pretty detail — it’s her mark, her symbol of ownership and expression.

For her, these aren’t just shoes. They’re freedom. Choice. A way to bring her vision to life, and take control of something that once felt out of reach.
