Hip pain can be surprisingly frustrating. Whether it’s a sharp pain when walking, stiffness getting out of the car, aching at night, or discomfort spreading into the groin, buttock or thigh — hip pain can start to affect everyday life more than people realise.

The tricky part is that not all “hip pain” actually comes from the hip joint itself. Sometimes the problem may relate to:
• The lower back
• Muscles or tendons around the hip
• Arthritis or joint irritation
• Bursitis
• Changes in movement or posture
• Nerve irritation such as sciatica

As osteopaths, one of the key things we do is assess how your whole body is moving to help work out where the pain is really coming from.

Treatment may include:
✔ Soft tissue massage and stretching
✔ Joint mobilisation to improve movement
✔ Advice on exercises and self-management
✔ Guidance on staying active safely

We always aim to explain things clearly and help you understand what may be contributing to your pain — not just focus on the painful area itself.

A little bit more about our newest addition to the team, Alexa

Originally from British Columbia in Canada, Alexa grew up surrounded by ocean and forest – and that connection to nature still plays a big part in her life today.

When she’s not in the clinic, you’ll likely find her:

🌿 Exploring woodland or the coast
🧘‍♀️ Practising yoga
🎨 Getting creative or cooking something nourishing

She brings that same sense of calm, balance and positivity into her treatments too – creating a space where you feel listened to and supported.

🌿 Meet Alexa – Her Journey into Osteopathy

After the COVID pandemic, she found herself reflecting on what truly mattered and was drawn to a career that would allow her to support others in living fuller, more comfortable lives.
That led her to naturopathy and then on to osteopathy – a profession that combines hands-on treatment with a whole-body understanding of health.

Alexa is a graduate from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine and also holds a diploma in Naturopathy so bringing a really holistic approach to her treatments.
