🌻 A great learning day today!

Hannah attended mental health training today, arranged by the charity With Grace, focusing on recognising early warning signs, supporting young people in crisis, and signposting families to the right help.

Supporting the bereaved means safeguarding the living. Understanding mental health strengthens our ability to offer safer, more informed support to families at their most vulnerable.

We are grateful to With Grace for arranging this training and for the amazing work they do🌻

Continued learning allows us to serve with greater awareness, compassion, and responsibility.

Another 10 people trained up who have left feeling more confident being able to help a young person in a crisis, signpost a young person, spot early warning signs and generally a better understanding of mental health. Thank you all so much for coming and giving up your Saturday and thank you to Ellie our trainer 💛🌻

A Gentle Space for Grief 🤍 Today at The Nest.

Following the warm response to our Grief at Christmas sessions, and many requests for these to return, we are pleased to host our first Grief Gathering of the year today.

All are welcome.

🗓 Thursday 26th February
⏰ 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
📍 The Nest, Dymchurch Road, New Romney

With no pressure to speak; we believe that listening can be just as healing as sharing. A place to pause, reflect, and share experiences.

We chose The Nest - New Romney 🌾 specifically for its welcoming, calm environment. Thank you to Nicola for the space. ☕ Refreshments are available to purchase from The Nest during the session.

Our hope is to offer a safe space where you can feel understood and form meaningful connections with others walking a similar path. Care doesn't end when a funeral is over; it continues as long as you need it.🤍

We also host regular support groups throughout the year to ensure care is available whenever you may need it. Keep an eye on our page, as we will be releasing the full list of dates for the year.

💙 Whilst a beautiful and warming service took place today for a well-known gentleman from New Romney, our funeral home was being looked after by Sharon (none other than Jon and Aaron's mum!).
Bringing more of our family into the heart of what we do is so important to us.

Continuing to assist families whilst we were supporting another, Sharon joining us is a special moment. The Dearman name holds significant meaning for her, as it was her mum Polly’s maiden name.

Sharon will be a familiar face covering the office every now and then. If you see her, please do pop in and say hello! 👋

At the heart of what we do is the dedicated care of looking after families during their most difficult moments.

Today, it was a privilege for us to provide a final farewell for a well-loved local gentleman at Charing Crematorium.
The procession was a nostalgic sight, led by a vintage 1982 Ford Granada hearse from Classic Hearse Hire, a fitting nod to a personal passion for the Granada. Alongside a floral hearse and three limousines.

The beautiful blue and white flowers and the matching blue cravat were a touching tribute to the gentleman's love for Chelsea Football Club.

A huge thank you to our whole team for their hard work, and a mention to the florists; the vast amount of floral tributes perfectly captured the love of this man's family and friends.

This morning our Monday was made a little brighter 🌸

The children from Seashells Nursery were out giving these bunches of flowers to the community, and we were very grateful to receive one. Such a kind and thoughtful thing to do.

The children were so kind and happy, a real credit to themselves, their parents, and the nursery assistants who clearly do a marvellous job.

These flowers have also brought a quiet moment of warmth and comfort to the families we are caring for 💚

A small gesture, that truly means a lot.
Thank you to for spreading kindness around the High Street today x

Our Funeral Director Hannah is taking on a series of runs (and mud runs) this year to raise funds and awareness for The Paula Carr Diabetes Trust, supporting people living with diabetes across Kent & Medway.

Diabetes is a serious daily challenge for many, including our team members Jon (Type 1) and Aaron (Type 2).

Hannah’s runs will help raise awareness and fund vital equipment, research, and local projects that make a real difference.

Exciting news for us today!
We have officially submitted our application for SAIF membership – the organisation dedicated exclusively to Independent Funeral Directors.

This step reflects our commitment to the highest standards of care, compassion, and professionalism for the families we support.
We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far. The kind words, thanks, and recommendations we’ve received from our friends, family, community, and the families we’ve had the privilege to care for have been truly overwhelming. Being entrusted with that responsibility is a real honour.

In the coming weeks, a new face will be present as we begin training one of the seven younger members of our family, passing on what we know and ensuring our values remain at the heart of everything we do.

We are proud to be the only family-run and independent funeral directors on the Romney Marsh.

It was a privilege to look after a family and their loved one yesterday. A deeply moving service, with a full chapel of mourners, gathered to pay their respects and to celebrate a truly kind gentleman 💙

We take pride in every detail, ensuring that every family receives the personal care and support they need during these difficult times.

We were also pleased to use our new nameplates for the first time today, a small but important detail in our commitment to providing a professional and respectful farewell.
