🔬 Rotator Cuff Trouble? Let’s Talk IASTM and Shoulder Pain Relief
🎾 In this session, I’m working on a client who’s been struggling with rotator cuff tightness and shoulder restriction, especially during and after playing tennis.
He’s been feeling discomfort in overhead movements and during follow-through phases of his swing — which has been affecting both his performance and day-to-day comfort.
To treat this, I’m using IASTM — Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation — a targeted soft tissue technique that helps address deep restrictions in the shoulder complex.
👀 It might look intense (you’ll see some visible redness and increased blood flow), but this method is safe, controlled, and not painful. It’s a highly effective way to tackle chronic soft tissue dysfunction.
🧠 What’s Actually Happening?
IASTM works by:
🔹 Gliding across the tissues to detect and treat tight areas, adhesions, and scar tissue
🔹 Causing a mild, local inflammatory response (don’t worry — this is good!)
🔹 Stimulating fibroblast activity, enhancing collagen production, and improving tissue quality
The redness you see is increased circulation — a key part of the healing process and not bruising or damage.
✅ Why This Treatment Works for Shoulder Restrictions
In this case, the rotator cuff (particularly supraspinatus and infraspinatus) was tight and overloaded from repetitive tennis actions.
IASTM helps to:
✔️ Break down adhesions
✔️ Restore mobility through the shoulder
✔️ Reduce pain and stiffness
✔️ Promote long-term healing and tissue health
💬 If shoulder pain or stiffness is limiting your training or your game, this could be the treatment to help you move freely again. Whether it’s tennis, gym, work or everyday life — we’ll get you back to your best.
