Staff Bereavement and Temporary Changes on Friday 27th February 2026

We are deeply saddened to share that a much-loved and long-standing member of our practice team has recently passed away. She was a valued colleague and friend, and her loss is being felt greatly by all of us.

To allow our team the opportunity to attend her funeral, there will be some temporary changes to how the practice operates on Friday 27th February.

Practice Arrangements on Friday 27th February:

• The practice will be open as normal from 8:00am to 10:15am.

• No clinics will run between 10:15am and 2:00pm.

• The practice building will remain open between 10:15am and 2:00pm for general enquiries, prescription requests, and appointment bookings.

• Our phones and reception will remain open and will be covered by members of the practice team.

• Accurx will remain open all day. From 10:15am, patients submitting a request will receive an automatic message advising that their request will be reviewed after 2:00pm, and that if their issue is urgent they should contact NHS 111.

• If you need help during this period that cannot wait until after 2:00pm, please contact the practice by telephone. For anything urgent, please contact NHS 111.

We would like to thank our patients for their kindness, patience, and understanding during this difficult time.

Need a Fit Note for Time Off Work?

If you’re off work for 7 days or less, you do not need a fit note. You can self‑certify using an SC2 form for your employer.

Off work for more than 7 days?

You will need a fit note. Please speak with your GP practice to request one, or submit a request online. Fit notes are free when you have been unwell or injured for 7 days in a row or more.

If You Have Been in Hospital:

If a hospital clinician has assessed you and decides you are not fit for work, the hospital team must issue your fit note. You do not need to contact your GP for this immediately after your hospital visit. Once your hospital‑issued fit note expires and your hospital care has ended, you can then contact your GP if you still need further certification.

Following a hospital visit:

If you are assessed in hospital and are considered unfit to work, it is the responsibility of the hospital clinician who treated you to provide a fit note (sick note) when needed.

You do not need to contact your GP for a fit note immediately after your hospital visit or treatment.

If you continue to feel unfit for work after your hospital‑issued fit note expires, and your hospital care has been completed, you should then contact your GP to discuss your ongoing symptoms and any further certification required.

To avoid any delay in receiving a fit note, please ask the hospital team before you leave whether one is required.
