Home working back care

With many of us continuing to work from home during the lockdown we have had to juggle work spaces for the family, with many resorting to using coffee tables, beds and sofas as work stations which can have a crippling effect on our backs. The worst offenders are using laptops for hours a day which can leave you with upper back and neck pain.

Don’t suffer in silence, we are open for appointments and can help alleviate the discomfort of back pain caused by these new ways of working!

Meanwhile, here are some top tips from Dr Adams in taking care of your back while working from home:

1. Take regular breaks, try and move every 20 minutes. Run up and down the stairs in your break to activate muscles.
2. Get plenty of fresh air and look out of the window- it will give you a boost.
3. If your workplace have not provided you with furniture, try to set yourself up as best you can to ensure you are not slouched- the sofa is the worst place to work, try a cushion on a dining chair or even having a standing workstation at a kitchen counter.

We’re all adjusting as best we can to home working but don’t forget your chiropractic adjustment to help you cope with the strains.

During lockdown we’ve seen so many of our local, small businesses offer the community their services in different, innovative ways - from local deliveries, pop up markets, online ordering and even a pub in Southwell making soup daily for the vulnerable.
