Happy Mother’s Day! Today we'd like to recognise the many who offer care, encouragement and strength within the Reach community.

For some this is a mum. For others it may be a family member, carer, support worker, friend or trusted person who plays a similar role. We want to acknowledge each of them for the time, patience and compassion they give.

We’re incredibly proud that India is taking on the London Marathon this April to raise money for Reach. Her passion and commitment mean so much to us.

As India shared:
“I’m running for Reach because the support they provide helps people live full and more independent lives. Seeing their work first‑hand inspired me, and as a Nottingham local, it feels meaningful to give back to the community I grew up in.”

Wishing you all the luck with your training, India! 💙

To celebrate World Book Day, our Flower Pod Newark Arctic explorers set off on an imaginative journey to the North Pole! Some created magical stories about polar bears, seals, and other Arctic animals forming unlikely friendships, while others wrote brilliant fact books covering: the icy landscapes, northern lights, and fascinating wildlife facts. What incredible authors, illustrators, and explorers we have here at Reach!

Today we are celebrating International Women’s Day by recognising the women across Reach who inspire us every day.

We are proud to support women with learning disabilities to build skills, confidence and independence, and to take their place in the life of the community. We also want to acknowledge the many women in our staff team, volunteer network and families who bring imagination, commitment and compassion to everything they do.

International Women’s Day is a reminder that everyone has the right to aspire and to be heard. At Reach we will continue working together so that people with learning disabilities can lead happy, healthy and connected lives.

Tonight in Newark, Garden of Light will brighten the Market Place with a stunning celebration of renewal, marking the changing seasons through light, colour and community participation.
The event is free and is on tonight 6pm-9pm!

Tina, Reach Newark Deputy Manager, said: “At Reach, we’re passionate about making sure adults with learning disabilities have the opportunity to take part in community life. Being involved in the Garden of Light workshops means the people we support aren’t just attending an event — they’re actively shaping it.
Having their lanterns carried through Newark and forming part of the opening moment is incredibly powerful. It builds confidence, pride and a real sense of belonging.”

We’re so proud of everyone who joined in our lantern making and is taking part. If you’re in Newark, come along and join this uplifting celebration. ✨🌈💛

From today until March 15th, it's Open Week! Which means you can enjoy free entry and special offers on great days out.

Here at Reach, thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund, we are opening up more opportunities for adults with learning disabilities to share their talents and play an active role in their communities. This support is helping us strengthen volunteering across Reach and amplify the voices of people with learning disabilities on the issues that matter to them. It is a significant step towards building healthier, more connected communities where everyone is valued and has the right to aspire.

National Lottery Open Week 2025 is now over and will be back in 2026! Dates will be announced in the coming months.

Today is , and it gives us the perfect moment to recognise the rich variety of wildlife that thrives around our Flower Pod centres. From frogs and insects to pollinators and the hedgehogs who regularly visit our gardens, our teams and clients work hard to make these spaces welcoming for everyone.

Recently, our Thursday woodwork group at Southwell created a hedgehog ladder to help any hedgehogs who accidentally wander into our ponds find a safe way out. It is a great example of how meaningful, hands-on activities can support adults with learning disabilities to build skills while also helping local wildlife flourish.

Did you know you can recycle your old mobile phones and empty ink cartridges through Honest-Inks Cash 4 Cause? You can drop them off at the Southwell Co‑op or at either of our Newark centres.

Every item recycled helps protect the environment and raises funds for Reach at the same time. It is an easy way to support a circular economy while supporting adults with learning disabilities in our community.

Thank you to everyone who donates. Small actions can make a real difference.

We created “seed snails” by rolling compost and seeds into bubble wrap. This space‑saving method helps us grow more seedlings in less space and keeps moisture where it is needed.
It is a practical, confidence‑building session that strengthens fine motor skills, planning and teamwork. We are excited to watch these snails unfurl into healthy seedlings, to be planted around our Flower Pod!

If you would like to support accessible gardening for adults with learning disabilities in Nottinghamshire, please consider volunteering or donating. Your support helps people build skills, friendships and independence.

We’re excited to share that our Mansfield Technology Tuesday group has created a fantastic how to video guide to support fellow adults with learning disabilities working in PowerPoint. They’ve been learning practical digital skills that help build confidence and independence, and they’re proud to show what they can do.

Take a look at their guide and let us know your favourite PowerPoint features and any top tips you use. We’d love to hear them!
