Just fast forwarding to tomorrow’s “invitation to play” tray

Finally got the last items to complete this very curious play tray… a very Autumnal theme 🐿🍄🍁🍂🦔🪶

Lots to explore! A bug hunt, sensory overload of textures and smells, letter recognition, counting steps, shape finder and to finish with a setting favourite story 🦉🦉🦉

The scooter has been a top favourite to bring to the setting 🛴

We’re off to explore the parks. The little ones braved the slopes, quickly realising the higher the slope the faster they came down. I care for the most confident risk takers ☝🏼

🥇🥈🥉Sports day 🥇🥈🥉

We held a mini sports day, excellent effort from all! A very competitive team but all winners of course 😉 I had noticed their throwing and kicking skills have developed even better than before.

Well done everyone 👏🏼

So last week was spent settling back into school routines… including me 🙋🏻‍♀️ It will get easier and
Soon enough October half term will be upon us.

Let’s recap the summer ☀️

Train ride 🚉

This was a first experience for these little ones to go on a train. Big discussion about safety on our outing and lots to see even on a short journey. we took turns handing over the ticket to get checked and stamped before and after boarding.

Ok so first things first….

As many of you will know, I had my first ever inspection with ofsted in May. I was running on about 3 hours of sleep and a litre of coffee on the day but I don’t think it Could have gone any better!

It’s still very surreal that I was awarded an OUTSTANDING grade in all areas of practice.

Hello 👋🏼 I cannot actually believe I’m writing my next post as a whole season passes!!

Please forgive me but I have some incredible news to share. I’ve been on cloud nine since the end of spring.

We’ve had an amazing summer with scorching temperatures, however I’m really excited for chunky knits and walking boots in the woods.

Autumn term ….let’s go!! 🍂🍄🦔🐿🍁🦉🪶

🔵 B U B B L E S 🔵

We will never…. I repeat never get bored of bubbles! Bubbles provide a different experience each time. The collection of wands, coloured solutions and machines continues to grow and available to use all year round.

⭐️ The benefits of bubbles

Toddlers that blow bubbles develop language skills earlier than those that don’t. FACT. Research has proven that there is a clear link between a toddlers ability to control their breathing whilst using complex mouth movements … blowing bubbles speeds up this development.

For the pre walkers or non mobile babies- perfect to practice their gross motor skills and hand eye coordination. For my little team that have confidently found their feet….they love to chase the bubbles before they become too high or pop on their own. They’re strengthening their muscles by running and stretching, a great physical exercise.

Blowing bubbles will naturally engage a toddlers curiosity and experimentation. When they see the bubbles coming out, they’re learning about ‘cause and effect’… this is a crucial STEM (Science,Technology,Engineering,Mathematics) concept. Basic foundation to understand the world around them.

Next we will experiment using different shaped wands and predict what shape the bubble will come out.

Will a triangular wand produce a triangular bubble?

😉

We’ve hit that time of year (one of my absolute favourites) …..

🌸🌻🐛🦋 SPRING 🐥🐣🐝🐞

It is of course the prime time of year to teach the children about lifecycles. It gives them an opportunity to understand the world we live in and a gentle concept of life, death and birth.

We loved this one so much from last year we have been revisiting the local pond in recent weeks to catch the early life cycle stage of the frog. 🐸

Amazingly, We have spotted some frogs spawn which I didn’t expect at all! The children could describe what they could see and suggested it might feel slimy. “It looks like bubbles”

We knew not to disturb the water to protect the spawn and eager to come back hopefully to catch the next stage.

Back at the setting we had a triumph at making our own version of pond life. They were brilliant at collecting some raw materials like mini logs and rocks with moss for a very authentic pond. It even attracted some real life bugs.

Next on the agenda is The BUTTERFLY 🦋

Let’s start with my proudest moment to date ☺️

The graduates 🎓

I Honestly didn’t believe I would feel the emotions of my little team starting school. I have been incredibly lucky to keep in contact with some and I can’t believe how much you’ve grown!! There’s one speaking welsh and others already losing teeth!!

I am so very proud of you! We sure miss you here at Lou’s….
