Mini Concerts provided a musical "Strictly at Home" tribute for International Dance Day. International Dance Day was established in 1982 and it is celebrated every year on April 29, the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727–1810), a French dancer and ballet master considered the creator of modern ballet.

What better way for our residents to foster their well-being. Thank you Thea for making this such a wonder afternoon for our residents.

I took the opportunity of visiting with Vesi at the West Berkshire Community Hospital. Vesi is in charge of the patient flow at the hospital and works closely with care homes that can offer placements to those patients that can't return home and need additional care. I could not help but go out into their community gardens especially as it was National Gardening Week in May.

The outdoor space at West Berkshire Community Hospital has been designed to provide numerous benefits. The therapy garden, which can be accessed by staff, patients and the local community, is an oasis of calm. It is a place to recuperate and a health therapy resource which also improves the natural environment. It not only provides seating, shade and edible produce but also the opportunity for activities and therapies to take place outdoors. The garden has been developed and maintained by both staff and a team of volunteers associated with the hospital.

We are in the midst of our Gardening Challenge at Falkland Grange for 2026 which will be offering many of same benefits to our residents, staff and visitors to our home.

We celebrated Administrative Professionals' Day this week and had the opportunity to recognise the "essential contributions of administrative staff". Here at Falkland Grange, Samantha is the person to get the job done - she ensures our staff are paid correctly, invoices are accurate for residents, suppliers are paid, holidays are booked, recruitment and interviews are handled efficiently, petty cash is available, budgets are balanced and she manages countless other tasks! Additionally, Samantha always finds time to help - supporting families, residents, or staff.

I attended the Porthaven Client Services Manager Conference for 2026, and I am proud of our team at Falkland Grange, as it is a team effort that we received not only 1 but 2 awards!🏆🌟

The 100% Occupancy Award recognises the achievement of reaching full occupancy throughout the year. Additionally, we are proud to have received the Highest Average Occupancy Award, making us one of only two homes in our portfolio to achieve this recognition. A big thank you to all the staff, residents, residents' families and our community for helping to make this a special place to work and an exceptional home for our residents.🫂💙

On a personal note, I recently celebrated my first anniversary at Falkland Grange. Ironically, it coincides with the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. However, I’m pleased to share that our "ship" is sailing smoothly, thanks to everyone who supports our home.🥹
