Today is International Homebirth Day!

2 out of 3 of my babies were born in the comfort of my own home and both births were different but amazing!

My first baby was born in hospital and after a wonderful experience I knew straight away that I did not need to be in a hospital setting and that next time I would choose to give birth at home and that is what I did. Baby number 2 and baby number 3 were both born at home and were incredibly calm, comfortable and empowering experiences! There really is nothing like giving birth in your own surroundings, drinking your own tea, having a hearty breakfast and then climbing into your own bed with your new baby.. just bliss!

If you would love to have a home birth but don't quite have the confidence to go for it or feel that you would be safer in hospital, please get in touch for a chat & to find out how I can help you have the birth you really want.

Today is World Hypnobirthing Day and there has never been a better time to celebrate the value of Hypnobirthing more.

At this time of uncertainty and with many antenatal courses being cancelled I want to be there for you, I want to support you and I want to empower you to feel confident and happy to welcome your baby in whatever situation the country finds itself in at the time.

With pregnant women being urged to stay at home I am offering 50% off my course price for anyone that wants to do the complete KG Birth Preparation & Hypnobirthing Course. This will be held via Zoom or Skype and will be exactly the same as my usual face-to-face course but in the comfort & safety of your own home. The only difference being that you will have to buy your own biscuits!!

Please do get in touch to discuss or find out more about Hypnobirthing.

I am also available to anyone that is feeling worried or anxious during this time but doesn't want to do the full course. You can contact me for a chat at any time.

Many women approach birth in a state of fear and anxiety. After all, everything they have ever heard is that birth is awful, painful and scary - it is no surprise they choose to bury their heads in the sand.

It doesn't have to be that way!

Our bodies are designed to birth our babies and if we trust them and allow them to do as nature intends, we will approach the experience in a very different way.

The Hypnobirthing Course that I offer is a complete birth preparation antenatal course.

🤰You will learn about the physiology of labour & birth and have a greater understanding of what is actually happening to your body during the process.

🤷‍♀️You will discover that you have choices and can take control of your experience. By gathering information you can make informed choices that are right for you and your baby.

💆‍♀️You will build your toolkit of relaxation techniques and practice these skills to then use during labour and birth. By relaxing and going with your body, you will allow it to work calmly and efficiently.

🤦‍♀️ We will work together to release any fears or anxieties, build your confidence and empower you to make the best choices for you and your baby.

👭 Plus the chance to make friends in a safe, warm and welcoming environment.
..and much more!

Get in touch for a chat, a coffee (other beverages are available!) or to book.

So, here we are - 2020 - and the new year is in full swing! The new year for me is both about reflection and looking ahead at what the year has in store, as well as what little challenges I'd like to achieve! I don't promise to lose weight, cut out chocolate or make unreasonable demands on myself; for me it is a time to grow and nurture yourself, which, in turn, will lead to a better, happier you!

The end of last year was all a bit manic and it was wonderful to have the Christmas break to recover... what could I have done differently? I could have prepared for what was to come: I knew my 3 children would be super excited, I knew I had many gifts to choose, buy/make and wrap, I knew I would have a house full of friends & family most days, so why didn't I prepare well in advance? Why didn't I take the time in the lead-up to think about how I wanted it all to go & what I could do in advance to minimise the last minute stresses?! Despite all that we still had a nice time - there are things I'd change & things that could have been better but it was OK!! I know that next year I have a chance to do it all over again and this time I will be fully prepared!

If something like Christmas can leave me feeling like this, the experience of having a baby can have a much greater effect on how you feel after the birth! Preparation is absolutely essential when expecting a baby: you have choices to explore, knowledge of what's to come, understanding your body, baby and what it needs, and so much more.

Christmas will come again & be forgotten about, but having a baby is a life-changing miracle that you will remember forever! Don't look back with regrets; prepare & make it the positive empowering experience that you are dreaming of!

This week is World Breastfeeding Week!

Breastfeeding your baby is a beautiful thing and knowing that you are giving your baby the very best, most nourishing food that adapts to suit your baby's needs really is wonderful.

However, some women cannot feed their babies due to medical reasons and also would prefer not to for personal reasons and this is ok too!

If you are pregnant and not sure whether breastfeeding is for you, please just try it! What do you have to lose? Here are just a few reasons why I chose to breastfeed my babies & enjoyed every minute of it..

☆ No preparation - no sterilizers, bottles to wash etc

☆ Always had enough food for my baby whenever or wherever they needed it without lugging heavy bags full of bottles around.

☆ I treasured the time that was just ours & I got my baby to myself for a while. Selfish? Maybe, but who cares!

☆ Easy night feeds with minimal disruption - there was plenty my hubby could be doing to help at other times, there was no point in us both being up all night.

☆ Knowing that my body would produce the perfect cocktail of whatever my baby needed.. if baby was ill my body would know and produce milk accordingly - Genius!

☆ I would also use breastmilk on other things.. gacky belly buttons, sticky eyes! Forget all those lotions and potions, breastmilk is the one stop shop.

☆ Feed time for baby meant rest time for me!

For me, breastfeeding did take a bit of getting used to and a bit of practice and at times a bit of extra support but it was worth it and asking for help if struggling is so worthwhile. Giving yourself time and focusing on breastfeeding early on will help get both you and baby on the successful path to easy breastfeeding.

So, why not.. just give it a try xx

It still surprises me how many people do this!

It still surprises me how many people do this!

It’s important to keep your baby cool when you’re out and about. Attach a clip-on sunshade to the pram to keep your baby out of direct sunlight and monitor their temperature by feeling their tummy or the back of their neck.

Prams and buggies should not be covered with blankets, cloths or any cover that prevents the air from circulating. Covering a pram or buggy with a blanket could lead to overheating, which increases the chance of SIDS.
