We talk a lot about dementia.
But how often do we talk about the person standing beside the one with the diagnosis?
When does caring quietly shift into coping and who notices first?
That’s the question behind this article, where I explore the hidden signals of carer burnout and how we might be able to support.

To take this conversation further, I’ll be hosting a Listening & Learning forum:
Winchcombe Place, Newbury
Monday 29th September, 1pm
An open space to listen, reflect, and discuss how we can recognise and support carers earlier, before crisis takes hold.
If you are caring for a loved one, know someone that does or are part of a community or orgnaisation that can support and you’d like to join us

Caring for someone with dementia rarely begins with a formal label. A husband might start managing the shopping list.

We’re delighted to share that we are proudly sponsoring Owen Jenner this season as he continues his football journey with Kintbury Rangers Football Club.

Owen is a familiar local face who has worked hard to earn his place on the pitch. After impressing with the Under-18s, he stepped up into the First Team and has already shown himself to be an exciting young midfielder with real determination and promise.

Kintbury Rangers is a club with deep roots in West Berkshire football. Founded in 1890, it has given countless players the chance to grow, compete, and thrive — including some who’ve gone on to make it professionally. It’s a team built on community spirit, passion for the game, and belief in nurturing homegrown talent.

For us at Winchcombe Place, supporting Owen is about more than just sponsorship — it’s about celebrating everything that makes our local community special. Residents and families love hearing stories of young people chasing their dreams, and we’ll all be following Owen’s progress closely this season.

Good luck, Owen — all of Winchcombe will be cheering you (and Kintbury Rangers) on every step of the way! ⚽💙

🌸✨ What a wonderful few days we’ve had at Winchcombe Place! ✨🌸

Our residents enjoyed so many fun activities — from a fantastic live music performance 🎶, peaceful garden walks 🌿, and cozy cinema sessions 🎬, to cuddles with the sweetest visiting guinea pigs 🐹. We also had games, pampering sessions, and a very special celebration for Janet’s birthday 🎂🎉.

Lots of smiles, laughter, and memories made 💜

📸 World Photography Day at Winchcombe Place 📸

We marked World Photography Day with a wonderful photo exhibition of “Old Newbury”. Residents enjoyed stepping back in time, exploring the rich history of Newbury, and discovering some fascinating facts about the town.

The exhibition sparked so many memories and conversations — it was a truly special way to celebrate the art of photography and our local heritage. ❤️
