πŸ“’ Important Update for Our Patients

We want to inform you of an important change to how you contact us online.
Our previous patient messaging service on our clinical system has now been switched off. This change has been made with patient safety as our top priority.
We found that some urgent clinical requests were being sent through this service, which was designed for administrative queries only and was not continuously monitored.

βœ… What to do instead:
Please use our new, secure online contact system via Accurx:
πŸ‘‰ https://accurx.nhs.uk/patient-initiated/m83007
This service is:
β€’ βœ”οΈ Safer and more secure
β€’ βœ”οΈ Continuously monitored
β€’ βœ”οΈ The best way to ensure your query is directed appropriately

🚨 Important reminder:
If your request is urgent, please contact the surgery directly by phone or seek immediate medical attention.
Thank you for your understanding and helping us keep all our patients safe.

πŸ“’ Dear Patients,

Today we have already received over 330 phone calls by 1pm β€” This is an unprecedented level of demand for our team.

Please be reassured that we are continuing to answer all calls and our staff are working extremely hard to support everyone as quickly as possible.

Where you are able, we kindly encourage the use of our online services for enquiries and requests. This helps reduce pressure on the phone lines and ensures that patients who are unable to use online tools can get through more easily.

Your support in using online options where possible makes a real difference β€” thank you for helping us help everyone who needs us.

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support.

πŸ’» Thank you for your patience this morning πŸ’»

We’d like to say a big thank you to all our patients for your understanding earlier today while we experienced a nationwide outage of our clinical system.

Unfortunately, this issue was completely outside of our control and affected GP surgeries across the country, which meant we were unable to access patient records or carry out some of our usual services for a short period of time.

We truly appreciate your patience and kindness towards our team while we worked through the disruption as quickly as possible.

Everything is now back up and running as normal.

πŸŽ‰ Good news, everyone! πŸŽ‰

After what feels like a long holiday (that it definitely didn’t ask for πŸ˜…), our self check-in screen is officially back up and running!

Thank you all for your patience while it was out of action β€” we know many of you missed the quick and easy check-in option

You can now once again check in at the screen when you arrive for your appointment. Of course, our reception team is still here and happy to help as always.

We appreciate your understanding over the past few months β€” and we promise we’ve had a word with the screen about taking unexpected breaks πŸ˜‰

Why aren’t all medications on repeat prescriptions? πŸ’Š

We know it can be frustrating if a medication you’ve had before isn’t available on your repeat list.

Following NHS prescribing guidance, not every medication can be added to repeat prescriptions. Some medicines need to be reviewed by a clinician each time to make sure they are still safe and appropriate for you. 🩺

This may include:
β€’ Short-term treatments (like antibiotics)
β€’ Medicines that need monitoring or dose changes (including HRT)
β€’ Items meant for occasional or one-off use

If a medication isn’t on your repeat list, it simply means a clinician needs to review it before issuing it again.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep prescribing safe and appropriate for all patients. πŸ’™

πŸ’™ Supporting Our Community πŸ’™

Today, our practice team completed a training session with Newcastlestaffs Foodbank, and we’re proud to share that we are now an official foodbank voucher distributor πŸ™‚

We’ve seen first-hand how the rising cost of living is affecting many people in our community. No one should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, and we believe that everyone deserves access to food and support, without judgement.

If you are finding things difficult, please know that help is available. Our team is here to listen and can discreetly support you with a foodbank voucher where appropriate.

You’re not alone β€” our practice is here for your health and your wellbeing. πŸ’™

If you need support, please speak to a member of our team.

πŸ“’ Important patient notice

For all routine and non-urgent requests, please consider using our online consultation tool instead of calling the surgery where possible.

Using our online services helps us to:
β€’ Triage requests more efficiently
β€’ Respond to you more quickly
β€’ Keep our phone lines free for urgent matters or for patients who are unable to use online tools.

πŸ“² You can also manage many services through the NHS App, including:
β€’ Ordering repeat prescriptions
β€’ Viewing test results and medical records
β€’ Booking and managing appointments

If you haven’t already signed up to the NHS App, we strongly encourage you to do so, as this helps reduce pressure on our telephone lines and allows us to support patients more effectively.

πŸ‘‰ Access our online consultation here: https://florey.accurx.com/p/M83007

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation
