Baby Loss Awareness Week may bring up some difficult emotions for parents and other family members.

You may find it helpful to talk about your feelings, and NHS support is available. Charities like Sands - baby loss charity, Miscarriage Association and Tommy's are also available to help.

There is no right way to grieve. Be kind to yourself and remember you are not alone 🩷💙

It’s Gynae Cancer Awareness Month…

It's Gynae Cancer Awareness Month so it's time to get to know the five gynae cancers and their signs and symptoms!

The five gynaecological cancers are:
-womb
-ovarian
-cervical
-vulval
-vaginal

Together, they affect 22,050 women and people with gynae organs each year in the UK. That is 60 people a day, and sadly 21 of them die too soon.

If you have any of these symptoms, or notice any changes to your body that aren't normal for you, get them checked out by a doctor.

It's more likely to be caused by something less serious than cancer, but it's worth getting checked, just in case! The earlier cancer is found, the more treatment options are available and the best possible chance you have of successful treatment.

From July 2025 in England, NHS cervical screening is now offered every 5 years, instead of 3. Although cell samples are taken, these are no longer processed if the HPV result is negative.

I offer private cervical screening of your choice, outside the NHS restrictions:

- under 25y/over 65y/every 1,2,3 or 4 years

- 40 minute appointment as standard

- additional support if you find speculum examinations difficult/painful/have previous trauma

- trans or non-binary patients with a cervix welcomed

- HPV vaginal swab alone (like a cotton bud) can be arranged if you do not wish a speculum to be used. This can be self-taken, or by me

- all cervical samples processed in a private laboratory, for HPV plus cell changes (cytology)

- I call you directly with results for speed, followed by an emailed letter and laboratory report

- £190 for full consultation, plus £190 for cervical screening procedure with Dr Williams

Do you need a coil removing?.
You may wish to become pregnant, not need contraception any longer, or wish a change of method.

Many women find this is not offered at their GP practice or other community services

Did you know, contraception is recommended up to 55y, but can be stopped at that age?

At Brampton Medical I offer removal of:
- non-hormonal copper coils (IUD)
- hormonal coils (IUS), including Mirena, Kyleena, Jaydess, Benilexa and Levosert. These may have been fitted for contraception, bleeding problems, or as part of HRT, and no longer needed.

Removal can be done quickly and simply, often in the same appointment as your consultation, if coil threads are visible.

Pain relief (local anaesthetic) and more complex removals with lost threads can also be arranged.

Good luck to the South Cheshire Moggies who are hosting a Morris Minor rally show tomorrow, to raise funds for the UHNM pregnancy and baby loss contemplation area appeal. 🚗💙

The annual rally show sees Morris Minor owners come together to showcase their cars and enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake together.

Organiser Anthony Morrey said: “We always try and choose a local charity and this year we chose UHNM Charity. The money we raise from the rally show will go towards a quiet outdoor area for contemplation, which will help families in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.

“We hope to raise as much as possible for this fantastic appeal.”
