Thinking about cutting back on alcohol this January?

That can be a really positive step, but for some people, stopping suddenly can be risky, especially if your body has become used to drinking regularly. This can sometimes cause withdrawal symptoms, some of which can be life-threatening.

Because of this, going slowly can be safer for some people. You might find it helpful to:

🍺Keep a drinks diary - noticing when and why you drink can help you understand your patterns
✨ Set small, realistic goals - like reducing amounts or having a set number of alcohol-free days
👣 Take gradual steps - change doesn't have to be all at once to count!

If things don't go to plan, that isn't a failure. A setback can be a chance to learn your triggers and what support might help next time.

There's no 'right' way to do Dry January. What matters is your safety, well-being, and choosing an approach that feels manageable for you. 💙

If you've ever had strong withdrawal symptoms, seizures, or feel worried about stopping suddenly, getting advice first can help you stay safe.

Support is available if you want to talk things through. You don't have to do this on your own.
