𝘾𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 💚
Regular cervical screening (Pap/smear tests) plays a vital role in preventing cervical cancer by detecting early cell changes, often caused by high-risk HPV, which many people may not know they have. Awareness campaigns aim to increase uptake, address anxiety, dispel myths, and explain the simple, life-saving test.

𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙞𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨:
> Cervical cancer is a cancer in the cervix (the opening between the va**na and womb).
> It can happen to anyone with a cervix, at any age.
> It is most common in people aged 30–35.
> Most cervical cancers are caused by certain types of HPV (a virus).
> Cervical screening can find cell changes early and help prevent cancer
> Cervical cancer usually grows slowly. How serious it depends on its size, if it has spread, and your health.

𝙈𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙮𝙢𝙥𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧:
> Unusual va**nal bleeding (after s*x, between periods, heavier than normal, or after menopause)
> Changes in va**nal discharge
>Pain during s*x
> Pain in lower back, lower tummy, or pelvis

☕ 𝙏𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙬 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙮 🍵a gentle reminder to put the kettle on, reach out, and connect with one another. It’s not just about having a cup of tea; it’s about taking a moment to check in, start a conversation, and show you care.

We believe mental health matters every day. If you’re feeling low, lonely, overwhelmed, or simply not quite yourself, reaching out to a friend, family member, neighbour, or healthcare professional over a simple cuppa could make a real difference.

If you need extra support, please remember you’re not alone. The Samaritans’ confidential helpline is free and available 24/7 on 116 123. You can also contact us at the surgery — we’re here to listen and help.

Sometimes the smallest act, like asking “How are you doing?”, can mean the world. 💙

10/01/2026

Children under 6 are now being offered the MMRV vaccine instead of MMR as part of the NHS routine childhood vaccination programme.
This replaces the existing MMR vaccine and adds protection against chickenpox, alongside measles, mumps and rubella.
You don’t need to do anything — your GP will contact you when your child is due.
