The test alert will be sent to all compatible 4G and 5G mobile phones and tablets across the UK. Older devices, or phones that are switched off or in airplane mode, may not receive it.

If the loud sound could be unsettling for you or someone you support, please plan ahead - for example, by keeping devices out of earshot at 3pm or checking the official guidance on managing or opting out of alerts.

It’s another scorcher one out there so here’s a little reminder of some simple ways to keep cool and comfortable today.

💧 Sip water often – even if you’re not thirsty
🍉 Snack on water-rich foods like melon or cucumber
🌤 Stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm if you can
🌬 Rest in shaded or cool areas
🧴 Pop on your sun cream before heading out
🚿 A quick cool shower can work wonders

If you or someone you know starts to feel dizzy, confused, or unwell in the heat, don’t ignore it – call NHS 111 for advice, or 999 in an emergency.
