📢 UK Government Emergency Alert Test – Sunday 7 September 2025 📢
On Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3PM, the UK Government will be testing the Emergency Alert system. A loud siren-like sound will go off on all 4G and 5G mobile phones, even if they are on silent.
👉 Important advice for anyone at risk of abuse:
If you have a hidden or secret phone that you use for your safety, this alert could reveal its presence to an abuser. To protect yourself, turn off emergency alerts by:
📱 iPhone (iOS 14 and above)
Open Settings.
1. Go to Notifications.
2. Scroll all the way down to the Government Alerts section.
3. Toggle Extreme Alerts and Severe Alerts off.
📱 Android (may vary slightly by manufacturer/model)
Open the Settings app.
1. Tap Safety & emergency (sometimes under Notifications or Advanced Settings).
2. Select Wireless emergency alerts.
3. Toggle off Allow alerts (or disable specific types such as Extreme/Severe alerts).
📌 Note: On some phones, the menu may be called Emergency Alerts, Cell Broadcasts, or Wireless Alerts. If you can’t find it, search for “Emergency alerts” in your phone’s settings search bar.
