Group A Presentation / EGCA Youth (U23) Championships 2025, Utrecht, Netherlands 🌍🏆
From one historic tournament to another. In just two days, the third-ever EGCA Youth Championships will kick off in Utrecht, the Netherlands, with a record number of 9 teams from 6 different countries taking part. We now present the teams from Group A. You can find the team line-ups here: https://egca.info/teams-youth-championships-2025/
RGC Hansa
Home City: Rostock, Germany
Ranking in previous editions: 1st 2024, 1st 2023
One to follow: #3 John Turloff (the last Youth Championships for one of the best attackers in Europe at the moment)
Short Presentation: RGC Hansa are the biggest favorites to win in Utrecht. The team has a tremendous amount of experience from top-level international matches, possesses ruthless attacking power led by John Turloff and Kilian Kollrep, and includes many rising talents. It would be a massive surprise if the team from Rostock were not seen in the final.
Northern Allstars
Home City: Newcastle, Great Britain
Ranking in previous editions: 5th 2024, 2nd 2023
One to follow: #2 Jack Peters (the last Youth Championships for the Great Britain men's national team player)
Short Presentation: Northern Allstars have assembled a team full of the brightest talents from across the British Isles, many of whom already have considerable experience in tough international matches. Therefore, the team is expected to fiercely compete for second place in Group A right behind RGC Hansa.
USV Hercules
Home City: Utrecht, Netherlands
Ranking in previous editions: 6th 2024, 6th 2023
One to follow: #3 Femke Van den Born (the last Youth Championships for the fresh top scorer of the Women's Champions League)
Short Presentation: USV Hercules will surely be eager to make an impression on home ground. Scoring goals shouldn’t be a problem for them — that’s ensured by Femke Van den Born, the top scorer of the Women's Champions League 2025 tournament, and Sem De Jong, who has been among the Top 5 scorers in the last two Youth Championships. The big question mark, however, is the team’s defensive stability, which must improve if they want to climb higher than sixth place from the past two seasons.
BSI Copenhagen
Home City: Copenhagen, Denmark
Ranking in previous editions: Did not participate 2024, 3rd 2023
One to follow: #6 Silas Friis-Hansen (a player with great potential, now carrying major responsibility for his team’s scoring)
Short Presentation: BSI Copenhagen’s squad has plenty of international experience among both players and coaching staff. Under the leadership of Thomas Svensson, the team will likely approach their games with a defense-first mindset, as they lack the same level of dominant attackers that many other tournament teams have. However, with solid experience and strong defensive organization, they certainly have a chance to reach the knockout stage.
GC Leipzig
Home City: Leipzig, Germany
Ranking in previous editions: Did not participate 2024, Did not participate 2023
One to follow: #6 Eren Yildiz (fresh German Goalball League bronze medalist and member of the German youth national team)
Short Presentation: GC Leipzig is undoubtedly the least experienced team in Group A at the international level, which may make their ambitions for success this year more challenging. On the other hand, the team includes players competing in the German Goalball Bundesliga, meaning they already have exposure to high-level play. The team also features Emily Reinke, who has won back-to-back Women’s Champions League gold medals with Füchse Berlin.
