Primary Series - Inversions
This was the my yoga class last night as we approached the end of the finishing sequence for our practise.
The Primary Series traditionally calls for a headstand. I know that sometimes people (myself included) don’t feel too comfortable practising headstand in public or just practising headstand at all. It can feel big and advanced and risky.
Whilst overcoming our ego and getting to know our bodies is a part of our practise, we can only do that in a safe space.
If you want to do a headstand, go for it. If you want to have time in Downward Facing Dog 🐶 , that’s up to you too! If slowly, week by week, your called to go out of your comfort zone, wonderful. If one week a headstand is needed and the next a dolphin 🐬- great!
The practise, for me, requires an inversion. Head below heart, a change of perspective, a different view of the world. Going with that approach leads to the lovely diversity that you see in this photo and a class which welcomes all and hopefully encourages a safe space for growth. 🌱 💛
