Are you feeling emotionally drained after Christmas and finding January difficult...you’re not alone.

The festive period can take a lot out of us - especially when we’re living with loss.

When the busyness ends and the quiet sets in, grief can feel heavier, sharper, and harder to carry.

On Monday 12th January, we’re holding our first Grief and Loss Support Group of the year in Blyth.
🕚 Time: 11.00am – 12.30pm
📍 Location: Briardale House, Blyth

This is a gentle, supportive space for anyone who is struggling after Christmas or finding the start of the year hard due to loss - recent or long past.

You don’t need to be strong.

You don’t need to explain your grief.

You don’t need to have moved forward.

If January feels heavy, that doesn’t mean you’re failing - it means your loss mattered. And it still does.

As we welcome 2026, I just want to wish everyone the very best for the year ahead.

New years can feel different for each of us - exciting for some, heavy or uncertain for others. However, you’re stepping into this year, I hope it brings small moments of comfort, connection, and care.

Be gentle with yourself, take things one step at a time, and remember that it’s okay to move forward in your own way.

Sending warm wishes for a kinder, steadier year ahead.

Christmas can be many things at once - comforting, painful, quiet, loud, hopeful, heavy.

If this season feels joyful for you, we’re glad you can hold onto that.

If it feels difficult, please know you are not alone.

Inner Light Wellbeing CIC, wants to gently wish you the best Christmas you can possibly have - whatever that looks like this year.

There is no right way to feel, no expectations to meet, and no timeline to follow.

Be kind to yourself. Rest when you need to. Reach out if it helps.

We’re holding space for you, today and always.

If you’re finding this time of year heavy, you’re not alone.

Christmas adverts are everywhere… lights are going up… people are talking about plans, gifts, and gatherings.

But for many of us, grief tells a different story.

Maybe you’re missing someone.

Maybe life feels nothing like it used to.

Maybe you’re grieving a loss that isn’t always recognised - health, identity, a relationship, financial stability, or a version of yourself you thought you’d still have.
If any of that resonates, please know this:

There is nothing wrong with you. Your grief is valid. Your pace is valid. Your experience is valid.

Grief Awareness Week is a gentle reminder that you don’t have to pretend you’re “fine” or carry everything alone.

Sometimes being around people who simply get it is enough.

This week, Inner Light Wellbeing is hosting two Life After Loss events - calm, creative, and welcoming spaces for anyone who needs support, grounding, or connection.

Creative Therapy
Sharing Circle
Meditation & Breathing
Messages to the Stars
Refreshments & gentle conversation

📍 Blyth – Briardale House

As we move into December, many people begin to feel the weight of Christmas long before the day arrives.

One of the most common questions I hear is:

“Is it normal to not want to celebrate at all?”

And the truth is - yes, it absolutely is.

When you’re grieving, the festive season can intensify everything you’re already carrying. The lights, music, family pressures, and constant reminders of togetherness can highlight the absence of what, or who, is missing. There is nothing wrong with you for struggling.

As an expert by experience, here are some gentle strategies that may support you this month:

1. Give yourself permission to step back
You do not have to “join in” if your heart isn’t there. Protect your energy, not other people’s expectations.

2. Set boundaries where you need them
It’s OK to keep plans minimal, decline invitations, or let people know you’re taking things day by day.

3. Create comforting, private rituals
Light a candle, write a message to your loved one, take a slow walk, or choose one thing that feels grounding.

4. Choose connection on your own terms
A single supportive conversation can be more helpful than forcing yourself into crowded gatherings.

5. Feel your feelings without judgement

You are not failing Christmas - Christmas is simply hard when your heart is hurting.
If December is feeling heavy, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

I’m hosting Life After Loss Events this week - a safe, compassionate space where you can learn coping strategies, feel understood, and connect with others moving through similar experiences.

Calm, creative, and welcoming spaces for anyone who needs support, grounding, or connection.

📍 Cramlington – Warm Space, Manor Walks
Thursday 4th December | 9am – 11.30am

📍 Blyth – Briardale House
Friday 5th December | 10am – 1pm

You’re welcome to join us.

No pressure. No expectations. Just a safe space to breathe and be yourself.

Why does Christmas feel so painful, even years after a loss?

Because loss changes how we experience the world - not just when it happens, but long after.

Whether it’s the loss of a person, a relationship, your health, or the version of you that once was…Christmas can bring those memories and emotions back to the surface.

This isn’t a setback - it’s your heart remembering.

Be gentle with yourself this season. Redefine what Christmas means for you, now, and give yourself permission to move through it in your own way.

If this time of year feels heavy, you don’t have to carry it alone.

Join our Life After Loss Events:
• Cramlington – 4th of December 2025
• Blyth (Briardale House) – 5th of December 2025

Sometimes you just need to sit with people who get it. No fixing. No pressure. Just understanding.

Grief doesn’t always look how people expect it to - and you don’t have to carry it alone.

I hated Christmas too…

I know what it feels like to dread Christmas, after loss.

Everyone else seemed excited… and I just felt empty.

The lights were too bright, the noise was too much, and all I wanted was somewhere I could just be without pretending I was okay.

That’s why I created Life After Loss. It’s the space I wish I had - calm, gentle, and filled with people who truly understand what it means to navigate December with a grieving heart.

In these sessions, we slow down. We breathe. We create.

You can talk, stay quiet or just be present, if that’s what you need.
And together, we find small moments of light again.

If Christmas feels heavy this year, come join us in Cramlington or Blyth.
You don’t have to carry this alone. I’m here, and so are others who get it.”
