Nina Ramsay - Art Psychotherapist & Clinical Supervisor

Nina Ramsay - Art Psychotherapist & Clinical Supervisor I am a qualified Art Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor who has been practising since 2010. I also sell Therapeutic tools and Artwork from my page below.

I provide Art Psychotherapy, Clinical or Restorative Supervision and Consultations. A little about me...

I have worked in the charitable sector, independent fostering sector and for local authorities since qualifying. Much of my work has been with children, adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma. I have also supported school staff, residential staff, CSC and foster carers/adoptive parents to help meet the needs of their CYP and with their own struggles that might impact how they support their CYP. I have worked individually and with small groups in a therapeutic capacity. I have been part of projects working with gender identity, ethnic minority communities, setting up and running a therapeutic service for adults who have experienced domestic abuse and overseeing a therapeutic service for CYP who have experienced traumatic bereavement and sexual abuse. I provide clinical supervision to therapists, trainee therapists, educational psychologists, advisory teachers and both therapeutic and non-therapeutic staff teams who need to maintain their resilience e.g. community family hub teams and the police. I am registered with BAAT and HCPC and am an Approved Supervisor for PTUK. I have my own insurance to practice, am on the DBS update service and am registered with the ICO. My GDPR statement will be provided as part of our contracting, should we begin work together. I have previously been an independent panel member for a fostering agency and am currently a trustee and governor for a local SEMH school setting. I previously was a leader for Brownie and Rainbows units within Girl Guiding UK for 10 years and have also been a volunteer with St John Ambulance in the past.

Hello 2026! ๐Ÿ‘‹

As the light dawns on a frozen January here are a few updates from me...

I have availability for new therapeutic/supervision/consultation work ๐ŸŒŸ

I'm not planning to host any more networking events for the foreseeable future, but hope to find some to attend if you have any suggestions?? ๐Ÿค”

I have created a separate page for selling my artwork and therapy tools - please feel free to follow it! โžก๏ธ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61586377403591

Hello all ๐Ÿ‘‹

Just a quick reminder that I am on leave from the end of play today until 5th January and won't be responding to any contact during this time. ๐Ÿงณ

Feel free to get in touch and I will respond once I'm back to work. ๐Ÿ“ง

This time of year is different for everyone, so take it at your own pace and do what you can to meet your own needs. ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿ˜Œ

Not sure about you, but I am very much ready for a break! โ›“๏ธโ€๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ˜Œ

The countdown is on โณ... Just over a week left of work and I find myself in a reflective๐Ÿชžmood about my journey so far in this therapeutic world. ๐ŸŒ

The last 2 years in particular have afforded me opportunities to branch out from offering only therapy and clinical supervision - I've added strings ๐ŸŽป of restorative supervision, hosting networking events, creating therapeutic resources, offering consultations on setting up in private practice and selling paintings to my bow. ๐Ÿน

I've also developed my self-care to include having more support networks for myself and of course astrophotography - apologies for the moon ๐ŸŒ• spam. ๐Ÿคฃ

Each year involves learning and growth and I would not be here without the support of all you wonderful people who trust me to help you with your journeys - thank you! ๐Ÿ’•

Let's play some word association ๐Ÿ˜

When you think about the topic of "friendships," what comes to mind??? ๐Ÿค”

A few ideas to start you off...

Life long

Distant

Ghosting

Tricky

Effortless

Fun

Complicated

Ever changing

Hard to develop

Impacted by life changing

Take work to sustain

Built on common ground

Peas in a pod (represented by the trees in the image below)

A common theme this week has been around the perceptions of others and accepting non- harmful differences rather than seeing these differences as an undesirable quality that needs changing. ๐Ÿ‘“ ๐Ÿค”

Take the pictures below ๐Ÿ‘‡

Each of us will view these already prepared desserts in a different way and then again potentially when we look at them from a different angle. ๐Ÿจ๐Ÿช๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฉ๐Ÿ“ These views will then help us decide whether to taste the desserts or not. ๐Ÿ‘„
We don't have to like ๐Ÿ‘ all the desserts, but we also can't expect them to spontaneously change to make us like them.

We can choose to accept them as they are โ–ถ๏ธ, try them again at a later date as our tastes may have changed โธ๏ธโฉ or ultimately choose to avoid them if we must โน๏ธ.

I sometimes feel like this metaphor applies to how we see and treat other people but obviously not in terms of 'tasting them.' ๐Ÿคฃ

N.B. this is not meant to be a provocative post, just a reflection on some of the discussions I've had this week - it is not all encompassing and does not negate the idea of change when it is wanted or needed.

P.s. the photo has no significance, I just liked it ๐Ÿคฃ

This week's themes revolve around holding boundaries ๐Ÿงฑ and containing the chaos ๐ŸŽ†...

One of my supervisors helped me reflect on how they see me recently after I shared the chaos of managing diaries and other people's needs without sacrificing my own; a bowl that holds and contains a lot of fluid parts ๐Ÿœ

Funnily enough past supervisors have given me other metaphors that have similarities such as a snail ๐ŸŒ or the world turtle ๐ŸŒ ๐Ÿข ๐ŸŒŒ as they also carry and contain a lot.

The visual that came to mind for me was a Kintsugi bowl as often when we try and hold boundaries/contain chaos it can lead to cracks in our self, but they can be bolstered and the object made into something stronger through it's own support and a bit of sparkle โœจ

As I don't have a Kintsugi bowl image, I found another bowl to take it's place and the facial expression feels a bit apt after the week I've had ๐Ÿคฃ
