Nina Ramsay - Art Psychotherapist & Clinical Supervisor

Nina Ramsay - Art Psychotherapist & Clinical Supervisor I am a qualified Art Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor who has been practising since 2010. I also sell Therapeutic tools and Artwork from my page below.

I provide Art Psychotherapy, Clinical or Restorative Supervision and Consultations. A little about me...

I have worked in the charitable sector, independent fostering sector and for local authorities since qualifying. Much of my work has been with children, adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma. I have also supported school staff, residential staff, CSC and foster carers/adoptive pa

rents to help meet the needs of their CYP and with their own struggles that might impact how they support their CYP. I have worked individually and with small groups in a therapeutic capacity. I have been part of projects working with gender identity, ethnic minority communities, setting up and running a therapeutic service for adults who have experienced domestic abuse and overseeing a therapeutic service for CYP who have experienced traumatic bereavement and sexual abuse. I provide clinical supervision to therapists, trainee therapists, educational psychologists, advisory teachers and both therapeutic and non-therapeutic staff teams who need to maintain their resilience e.g. community family hub teams and the police. I am registered with BAAT and HCPC and am an Approved Supervisor for PTUK. I have my own insurance to practice, am on the DBS update service and am registered with the ICO. My GDPR statement will be provided as part of our contracting, should we begin work together. I have previously been an independent panel member for a fostering agency and am currently a trustee and governor for a local SEMH school setting. I previously was a leader for Brownie and Rainbows units within Girl Guiding UK for 10 years and have also been a volunteer with St John Ambulance in the past.

Making connections has been a bigger part of my life recently... Via work related social media groups, cpd, attending a local networking event yesterday and in my personal life too.

For many people it can be quite draining to do this, and I'm definitely ready for some alone time and a slower week next week... Need to stop feeling like a bedraggled mess 🀣

The creative juices have been flowing recently as a result of some poignant moments in my own supervision; reflecting on how I supervise others and from today's cpd on working with fairytales as an art therapist. 🏰 ✏️

Today in particular - It's always nice to be read a story and to make response art to what it conjures in your mind. πŸ₯°

I always love finding marks like this when out and about - it helps me remember that the only path I should follow is my own... πŸ‘£

Life is full of opportunities and journeys, but we can't fully embrace ours if we only walk in someone else's footsteps and are expecting all individuals to fit into systems that don't meet their needs. πŸ›€οΈπŸ“¦

I often talk about such ideas with those I support, as many feel like they or their service users are navigating a world 🌍 that is not in line with their way of being and they are now at points where they can no longer cope with this, but are aware the systems around them have limited ability to change.

Sometimes just having an outlet πŸ—£οΈ to share all of this is enough to help them feel heardπŸ‘‚and understood, which in turn creates space for them to make changes for themselves or reframe the situation from one of hopelessness and despair to one with more neutral or positive ways to move forward without compromising their needs and value. πŸ’–πŸ₯°

What does the picture below represent for you..?? πŸ€”

This week, for me, it represents my response to the emotional load of daily life 🀣

Thanks for keeping me so busy πŸ₯°

Early morning moon behind trees shot on a blustery day through a telescope... A good metaphor of my busy-ness 🀣

Feel free to get in touch however - as always, I can signpost you if we can't work together.
