What a fantastic day we had yesterday at The People’s Kitchen in Newcastle!

A big thank you to Jackie, Chris, Shayne the dog, and all the amazing volunteers and friends who welcomed us with open arms. 🐾❤️

It was a brilliant opportunity to promote diabetic eye screening, have some great conversations, and connect with truly inspiring people.

We’re so grateful to be part of such a supportive community - looking forward to more days like this!

📣 We’re at The People’s Kitchen tomorrow! 👁️

The North of Tyne and Gateshead Diabetic Eye Screening Programme will be at The People’s Kitchen on Tuesday 16th July, from 10:30am to 3:00pm.

✅ We’ll be promoting diabetic eye screening
✅ Offering on-the-day eye screening for anyone who is due an appointment

If you or someone you know has diabetes and is due their eye screening, come along and see us – no need to wait for an appointment letter.

📍 Everyone is welcome – please help us spread the word!

💙 Happy Diabetes Week! 💙

This week, we’re celebrating everyone living with diabetes and reminding you how vital diabetic eye screening is for protecting your vision.

👁️ Diabetic eye disease often has no symptoms in the early stages, but regular eye screening can help detect problems early and prevent sight loss.

🗓️ If you're living with diabetes and aged 12 or over, you’re entitled to free annual eye screening. Make sure you're up to date with your appointment!

📍 WE ARE ON ELSWICK ROAD TODAY OFFERING FREE DIABETIC EYE SCREENING 📍

If you are diabetic and have not yet had your eyes screened this year please pop along to see us. We are opposite West End Women and Girls Centre and parked outside of Farah Chemists.

If you know of anyone living with diabetes who may need their eyes tested please feel free to spread the word.

👁️ On Tuesday, Amanda and Jasmine had the privilege of attending the Asylum Seeker Drop-in Session hosted by Northumberland County of Sanctuary, in Ashington

It was a fantastic opportunity to meet people new to the area, connect with other local services, and share important information about diabetic eye screening and how to access it.

A big thank you to the organisers for such a welcoming and valuable event! 💙

👁️ We had a great time attending the "Welcome to Newcastle" event this week — an amazing initiative aimed at supporting asylum seekers settling into the area.

There was a fantastic turnout, and it was wonderful to meet so many people from the community, as well as other organisations doing incredible work. 🙌

We were there to raise awareness about diabetic eye screening and the importance of regular check-ups to prevent sight loss. We're looking forward to working alongside the brilliant groups we connected with at the event to continue supporting better health outcomes for all.

🌍 Welcome to Newcastle Event 🌍

On 15th April, our Engagement Team, Amanda and Jasmine will be at the Welcome to Newcastle event (hosted by Newcastle City Council) – a special day dedicated to supporting and welcoming those seeking sanctuary and newly recognised refugees to our city. 🤝💙

This event is an opportunity for people to connect, learn about local support services, and feel a sense of community in their new home. It’s a day of friendship, support, and resources, designed to make Newcastle feel a little bit more like home for everyone. 🏠

If you or someone you know is a refugee or seeking sanctuary, come along and meet us! We’re here to provide further information about our diabetic eye screening programme, and how we can support you. You're not alone as you navigate your new chapter in Newcastle.

Our engagement team visited Newcastle University yesterday to spread the word about our diabetic eye screening programme, providing information and on the day screening for those who have diabetes and were due their annual check.

They attended alongside the Community Health Bus ran by NGPS (Newcastle GP Services).

An overall great day, thank you for having us Newcastle Uni! 👁️ 📸
