Joseph Richmond and Son, Monumental Sculptors, were established in 1979 as a family monumental masonry firm and have been owned and operated by the same family ever since. Since that time we have built a reputation for quality in workmanship and memorial design using both traditional skills and values. We use a combination of traditonal skills, passed from Father to Son, and the most up to date te

We are full retail members of N.A.M.M. code of working practice. All of our Craftsmen have achieved N.V.Q. level 2 in Monumental Masonry. This ensures a high level of consistency and quality in our work. We are listed on the British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons. (B.R.A.M.M.) All of our work is covered by the N.A.M.M. certificate of conformity scheme and is fully guaranteed. We strive to provide excellent value for money and we try to ensure our prices are amongst the most competetive when materials are compared like for like. We were awarded both First and Third places in the National Memorial Awareness Boards annual Awards for Most Original Memorial Design in 2006. In 2007 we were further honoured to be awarded Second place in the same contest. Achievements of which we are very proud. ๐Ÿ’Œ Remembering Loved Ones

๐Ÿ“ฎ A memorial postbox offering residents a unique way to remember their loved ones has been installed at Whitley Bay Cemetery.

It follows the success of the original โ€˜Letters to Loved Onesโ€™ postbox unveiled at Preston Cemetery in March 2025.

Developed by Turnbull Funeral Directors - Independent and family run since 1790 and the Council, the letters can be written on wildflower-seeded paper and planted along the memorial walk, where they will bloom into a living floral display.
