Fell season is coming ⛰️— and the hills don’t forgive shortcuts.

Fell running isn’t just “road running but slower”.

It asks for:

• calf & ankle strength
• hip stability
• downhill control under fatigue
• confidence on uneven ground

Most fell niggles we see show up before the racing even starts — usually when hill reps go up but strength hasn’t.

A little work now saves a lot of frustration later.

Progress doesn’t come from piling on more sessions or pushing hard every time.

It comes from structure, timing, and balance — knowing when to push, when to hold back, and when to recover.

Feeling flat mid-week? 😩

It’s probably not your training load — it’s your fuel strategy.

Midweek is where most athletes under-fuel without realising it:
👉 Breakfast gets rushed or skipped
👉 Sessions happen on empty
👉 Protein intake drops
👉 Recovery meals are delayed or missed

Each of those adds up to slower sessions, low motivation, and poor recovery.

Another week done ✅ and plenty of momentum rolling into November 👊

Our trial athletes are settling in brilliantly — consistent sessions, smart fuelling, and getting into that rhythm that makes the difference long term 🔁

Our long-term athletes are showing exactly what consistent, structured work looks like — progress everywhere from base miles to race performances.

Special shout-out to Alison, who’s out in New York taking on the marathon 🇺🇸👏 and absolutely smashing it so far — we’re all cheering you on from home 💙

As we move into a new week:
• Check your plan for any updates or changes 🗓️
• Prep your kit and nutrition for the days ahead 🥣🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️
• Remember: recovery is still training — sleep, eat well, hydrate, repeat 🔁

The Endurance Academy

Hi, thanks for checking out our page ‘The Endurance Academy’ the new rebrand of ‘Bateman Sports Therapy. We're still working away in the background, so expect lots more to come from the site in the future.

So who are we? We are a close knit group of sports scientists and coaches (Jon Bateman & Alan Copland) who work with competitive and recreational athletes of all levels to ensure they surpass their goals. Working across Northern England and Central Italy, we offer a number of services that we feel are integral when supporting you guys.

So what can we offer you? A training program which can include cycling, swimming, running and strength work. A nutritional plan which will assess your current eating habits and help you lose that fat mass while keeping that much wanted lean mass! A top class sports massage service service to keep those aches and pains away, allowing you to stay consistent in your exercise routine. Consistency is key! Finally, our mentoring service. This is ground breaking and something that we all need but maybe don't quite understand. Why do we do what we do? Do I really want this? I've lost my mojo? All sound familiar?
