Our brand new Therapy Centre in South Tyneside is NOW OPEN 🎉 We were delighted to welcome Mayor Jay Potts, Mayoress Audrey Huntley and Council Leader Tracey Dixon who cut the ribbon and declared the centre officially open.

The centre features modern therapy rooms and dedicated children’s therapy rooms. On the second floor we have a training hub, where Kalmer Counselling will deliver professional training sessions for educators, parents and mental health practitioners.

In addition we have launched Walk and Talk Therapy as well as Dog Walk Therapy to take advantage of the beautiful South Shields coastline.

Keep an eye on our socials to find out more about our new Therapy Centre and HQ.

If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?

For me, it would be: “You don’t have to carry everything alone.”
So many of us grow up thinking we need to be strong, keep it together, and never show the cracks.

Your younger self deserves the same compassion you give to everyone else. Remind them they did their best with what they knew.

What would you tell your younger self?

Ever felt a wave of emotion that seemed too big to handle? Try to name your emotion and tame that feeling.

It might sound small, but it’s one of the most effective ways to regulate emotions.
When we label our feelings…
“I feel anxious!”
“I feel frustrated!”
“I feel lonely!”
We take the power from those emotions and feel more in control.

What’s the difference between counselling, psychotherapy, and coaching?

These words get used a lot, but they’re not the same thing.Help understand which might be right for you👇

Counselling is safe, supportive space to talk through life’s challenges such as stress, anxiety, grief, relationships.
•Usually short-term
•Focused on coping, understanding, and healing
•Helps you manage emotions and move forward

Psychotherapy is for exploring why you think, feel, and behave the way you do.
•Looks at patterns and past experiences
•Helps with long-term emotional or mental health issues

🌍Today is World Kindness Day!🫶

In a world that can sometimes feel heavy with conflict and uncertainty, kindness is more important than ever.

Whether it’s a smile to a stranger, a message to check in on a friend, or taking some time to listen to someone. Even the smallest of gestures can have a big impact.

Research Participants Needed!

We are sharing information about this research on behalf of Jenny, who’s completing her Masters in SEND and Inclusion at the University of Northampton.

She’s researching the links between school anxiety and autism, ADHD, Developmental Language Disorder, Dyslexia and more.

If you’re a parent of a young person aged 16–19, please take 10 minutes to complete her anonymous questionnaire. Your input, especially from the autistic community, is really valuable and will help ensure a range of voices are represented.

The study follows the University’s Research Ethics Code and Procedures. You can take part using the QR code or link below.

Thank you so much for supporting this important research!
