What to expect with upper eyelid surgery

Before your surgery
Your journey begins with a detailed consultation with one of our consultant surgeons. They’ll assess your eyelids, discuss your goals, and give you honest guidance - including whether surgery is truly the right option for you. Every plan is tailored, and you’ll never be rushed or pressured into a decision.

The procedure
Upper eyelid surgery is a precise, delicate procedure designed to remove excess skin and restore a brighter, more refreshed appearance. It’s typically performed under local anaesthetic in our in-house, CQC-certified surgical suite. Most patients are comfortable throughout and able to go home the same day.

Immediately after
Expect some tightness, swelling, and bruising - completely normal parts of the healing process. Your eyes may feel more watery or sensitive in the first few days. We’ll provide full aftercare guidance and stay in close contact to ensure you feel supported and reassured.

The recovery
Most patients return to everyday tasks within a few days, with bruising settling around 7–14 days. Your results continue to refine over the following weeks, revealing a softer, more open, and rested look that still feels entirely like you.

LASE Cosmetic has been some years in the making. Lisa Ali-Khan (Aesthetic Nurse) and Ahmed Ali-Khan (Plastic Surgeon) are a family team that have been based in the NorthEast since 2011. Our ethos is safe and expert care in the field of aesthetics, both surgical and non-surgical. Wanting to develop our safety first ethos we practiced from the Spire Washington Hospital from 2012 (admission of which requires the scrutiny and approval of a Consultant Medical committee) to develop our reputation and practice. We believe our non-surgical expert (Lisa Ali-Khan) is the only nurse in the North-East (and one of the few in the UK) to have passed such scrutiny of her training and standards.

Having developed a reputation for high quality care and standards over the past few years we decided to further personalise our services into an aesthetic clinic based in the heart of Newcastle. LASE Cosmetic is the culmination of that dream. We chose the Jesmond, a beautiful building, situated opposite West Jesmond Metro as the perfect location for our luxury, bespoke clinic. As the only plastic surgery facility in the NorthEast that offers full-time expertise in non-surgical and surgical aesthetic treatments we offer honest, ethical advice with no limitations. Our advice is always based on what we consider the best option for our individual patients and not constrained to whether they booked in to see one of our surgical or non-surgical experts.

Part of our dream was to introduce the best aesthetic technology for the patients of the North East. In that respect we have brought CoolSculpting (permanent, non-surgical fat reduction) and Renuvion (skin tightening) to the region.
