Today was a lot.

And it was still a lovely day ๐Ÿค

Iโ€™ve got the flu.

The house is upside down from the weekend.

Toys everywhere. Washing waiting. Dishes stacked.
Charlie needed a last-minute lift to college.
Meal plan still needed doing. Shopping still needed doing.

Connor was his full hyper, sensory-seeking self in the shop.

There were moments. There was chaos. There was noise.

Leeโ€™s just coming off the back of the flu too. Heโ€™s worked all weekend. Heโ€™s done what he can. Bins out. A wash on. Folded clothes. Took Connor out so I could rest.

And I am so grateful for him.

But today, despite all of thatโ€ฆ
I had the capacity for it.

Thatโ€™s the difference.

Not that life is calmer.

Not that the house is tidy.

Not that my kids are suddenly easy.

But Iโ€™ve built the ability to hold the chaos without spiralling inside it.

At 9:36pm, I felt that old spike.

Connor had been in the shower too long.
The house was still a mess.

I havenโ€™t made a proper home-cooked meal in three nights.

Everyoneโ€™s fed. But my standards were whispering.

The old survival-mode version of me would have spiralled there.

She would have snapped.
Judged herself.
Carried guilt into bedtime.
Stayed tense for days.
Now?

The voice still appears.
But it doesnโ€™t take over.
I notice it.
I thank it for the awareness.
I ground myself again ๐ŸŒฟ

Because most of my triggers arenโ€™t the chaos.
Theyโ€™re the pressure I put on myself.

Iโ€™ve learned to anchor in tiny moments throughout the day.

Little breaths.
Little resets.
Little reminders that I have got this.
Not perfectly.
Not polished.
But I have got this.

And the moment passes.

Thatโ€™s what steadiness feels like.

It doesnโ€™t remove the chaos.
It just stops it living inside your nervous system all day.

I donโ€™t think Iโ€™m in survival mode anymore.
But I was. For a long time.
