From a gut health perspective it’s such a good idea to get a good variety of fermented foods and drinks into the diet. I’m loving this kombucha, it ticks all the boxes, it’s low in sugar, all natural ingredients, it has 3 billion live cultures and it tastes great. I particularly like this flavour as the ginger has such a kick, it’s really refreshing and makes for a great pick me up when I’m flagging. It’s also great if you’re on the go. What’s not to like!

Best Saturday morning plan ever! My plan this morning was to get up early, have a healthy energy boosting breakfast of overnight oats with every add on imaginable from protein powder to mixed seeds, walnuts, berries with a lot more in between. Then cycle from Pollenca town to Port de Pollenca, take in a coffee and cycle back all in good time to spend a few hours working before lunch. I’m working on putting together some new and exciting health programmes for my business. Plan went swimmingly and you know what, I did all the work in my head enroute. I wrote all my ideas down on a napkin over coffee. By the time I got home all my work was done! Now that’s what I call a Win Win!
Combination of the right food and exercise can work wonders for the brain & creativity!. Can’t wait to share my new programmes with the world. In the mean time if you feel you could do with some nutritional support and guidance don’t hesitate to contact me and book in for a free 30 minute call.

As the world warms up its so important to make sure that you're paying attention to hydrating. Normally 8 glasses or 2 litres is enough but over the warmer months 2.5 it preferable.
Water is important to
Transport nutrients & oxygen to cells
Regulate body temperature
Lubricate the joints
& aid digestion
Also don't forget that one of the biggest causes of headaches is dehydration.

I have to admit that I’ve not been a huge fan of Kefir in the past as I don’t like the runny texture. But now there are quite a few Kefir yogurts on the market which I much prefer. Particularly like this Tim’s Dairy Greek one. kefir boasts many health benefits. It’s packed with probiotics and nutrients. Here are the top 5 health benefits of kefir, supported by research.

1. Improves Gut Health

Kefir is rich in probiotics, especially Lactobacillus kefiri and other beneficial strains. These microorganisms help:
   •   Balance gut flora
   •   Improve digestion
   •   Relieve symptoms of IBS, bloating, and constipation.

2. Boosts Immune Function

The probiotics, bioactive peptides, and nutrients in kefir (like vitamin D, calcium, and magnesium) support immune health by:
   •   Enhancing the body’s defenses
   •   Reducing inflammation
   •   Inhibiting growth of harmful bacteria

3. Stronger Bones

Kefir is an excellent source of calcium and vitamin K2 (especially in whole milk kefir), which play crucial roles in:
   •   Bone density maintenance
   •   Preventing osteoporosis
   •   Supporting overall skeletal health

4. Supports Lactose Digestion

Despite being dairy-based, kefir is generally well-tolerated by lactose-intolerant people because:
   •   Fermentation breaks down most of the lactose
   •   It contains lactase-producing bacteria that aid in digestion

5. May Protect Against Infections and Cancer

Some compounds in kefir (like kefiran and certain peptides) have shown:
   •   Antibacterial properties against pathogens like Salmonella and H. pylori
And it’s delicious!!

A healthy packed breakfast of overnight oats in the train to York this morning. Being dedicated to healthy eating sometimes takes a bit of thinking and prep in advance but hey, this is so much better than grabbing a coffee and a pastry enroute. Off to an all day Seminar run by Pharmanord on Arthritis. Feeling like my anti inflammatory breakfast is quite appropriate -inflammatory

Food noise seems to be a recently coined expression which refers to the constant chatter and preoccupation with food, which can lead to unhealthy eating patterns, a negative relationship with food and subsequent weight gain.
Food noise is often referred to in conversations around the use of weight loss injections like Ozempic as these injections are very good at stopping this food noise in its tracks.
One of the ways in which Ozempic helps quell this food noise is through helping to balance Blood Glucose levels. Indeed the original use of these injections was for Type 2 diabetics to help them control blood sugar levels and avoid the health complications of diabetes.
For someone who has a lot of weight to lose I think that Ozempic can be a useful tool, a starting point if you like in achieving some weight loss fast but sadly its unlikely to last. This artificial control of blood glucose will cease once the injections are stopped, the food noise will come back and the weight will pile on and more.
What if I told you that there is another way?
Through a few simple rules around the way that you eat, you can control your blood glucose levels naturally, stop the food noise and lose weight. What is more, this is an education around food which will serve you well for ever and lead to permanent sustained weight loss.

One of the most liberating things I ever learned about weight loss and long term weight maintenance is that Fat per se does not cause weight gain.
From a health perspective fat sources should come from Essential Fats as much bas possible i.e. nut & seeds, oily fish, olive oil, avocado's etc.

What an incredible start to May, the sun is shining, oh joy! What’s not to like?
Nothing, well almost nothing. Along with the warmer weather comes a shedding of clothes and the realisation that you may have gained some unwanted kilos over the winter months.
So its D-day, no more excuses its time count those calories and cut out the fat, RIGHT??
Well yes I hear you say,
‘I’ve done this so many times, and it works!’
Which begs another question,
‘if it really does works then why the need to do this over & over again?
Quite simply
‘because it doesn’t work,’
It’s a nothing but a temporary fix which makes it harder and harder to lose weight in the future.
I have first-hand experience of this as this was me many Moons ago and it was miserable!
During the week I’d count calories and virtually eliminate all fat from my diet. My diet was restricted due to the calorie counting and I felt depressed because I wasn’t providing my brain with the friendly fat which it needed to function properly. Come the weekend I’d eat normally, and could easily gain 1 or 2 Kilos over this short period of time.
This is classic Yo-yo dieting!
What I didn’t realise was that I was destroying my metabolise, a horrible downward spiral resulting in muscle wastage resulting in having to eat less and less in order to keep my weight under control.
Having discovered a much better and more nourishing way of achieving my goals, those days are now long behind me thank goodness!
I now follow some very simple rules around how I eat, creating a balance which allows me to eat good quantities of food which stops me feeling hungry and undernourished and keeps my brain happy.
I’ve maintained the same weight for more than 20 years and I don’t put on weight at Christmas or when I go on holiday, Why? because I understand how to put food together in order to stop this happening, and its oh so very simple when you know how!
At Zing Nutrition, I successfully help my clients every day to achieve their weight loss goals and I’d me more than happy to talk to you about my method, all you need to do is go on my website www.feelamazing.co.uk and request a FREE call.
