Ever feel like your brain is 47 tabs open, 6 playing random music, and one screaming “don't mess it up”?
Welcome to the club🧠✨

Art therapy isn’t about being “good at art” — it’s about making the mess visible, so we can finally start untangling it.

It’s especially helpful if you’re:
🎢 Neurodiverse and constantly masking just to get through the day
💭 Living in your head 98% of the time and can’t word your feelings
🥀 Going through a tough stage in life and don’t even know where to start

Art therapy offers a calm, no-pressure space to:
🎨 Feel, without having to explain
🧩 Process, without needing to “fix” everything
🌿 Maintain your mental well-being — even when life is lifing hard

You don’t need to bring anything but yourself. I’ll bring the paper, colours, and an emotionally safe playlist💁‍♀️

DM if you’re curious, confused, or just want to know what happens when you hand your anxiety a paintbrush🎨🌀

What should I prepare before my first art therapy session?

Actually… you don’t need any art background or drawing skills at all!
Art therapy isn’t about making something that looks “good” — it’s about using creativity to express your feelings and experiences.

Before your first session, you can:
🔹 Give yourself some gentle mental preparation:
This is the start of a journey to understand yourself more deeply. You don’t have to explain everything right away — just showing up is already a huge step.

Page 2
🔹 Wear something comfortable:
Some art materials like paints might be involved, so it’s best to wear clothes you don't mind getting a little messy.

🔹 Bring an open heart:
You can share as much or as little as you feel ready for. You’re welcome to take your time — this is your own space

🔹 Let the therapist know if you have any specific needs:
For example, if you prefer using a certain language, or have allergies to particular materials, just let them know in advance.

Remember — this is a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space for you. You can express things you may find hard to put into words, or simply explore your inner world quietly through art.

What will the first session be like?

For first-time clients, the first time consultation might look like this:
🖌️ Around 30 minutes of consultation and conversation
🖌️ About 10–15 minutes of gentle art-making exploration
🖌️ A little time at the end to reflect on your experience and talk about your hopes and possible next steps

There’s no fixed schedule — every journey is different.
It's about moving at a pace that feels right for you. 🌿

🎨 ART THERAPY vs. THERAPEUTIC ART 🎨

Let’s settle this once and for all! Art therapy ≠ coloring books (I promise, no one’s grading your shading skills here).

✅ Art Therapy = A professional therapeutic process guided by a registered art therapist (like me 👋), helping you explore emotions, process trauma, and express what words can’t.
🖌 Therapeutic Art = Creative activities that feel relaxing and enjoyable but aren’t necessarily guided by a therapist or tailored to your personal struggles.

💡 Art Therapy vs. Talking Therapy
Because trauma lives in the brain non-verbally—meaning talking alone isn’t always enough. If you’ve read The Body Keeps the Score, you’ll know that trauma isn’t just a memory—it lives in the body and brain in ways we don’t always have words for. That’s why talking alone doesn’t always help.

Art therapy help us to process and integrate difficult memories, making sense of experiences that once felt fragmented or overwhelming. It helps reconnect the dots, giving us a clearer sense of identity, purpose, and healing—without needing to explain everything out loud.

So no, art therapy isn’t just about "coloring to calm down" and sometimes, healing isn’t about finding the perfect words—it’s about finding a new way to tell your story🎨💛

Mental Health - Focused Cantonese
We love introducing ourselves with our MBTI, how about our attachment styles? Attachment styles shape how we connect, love, and even argue (or avoid arguments entirely). Understanding your partner’s, friend’s, or even your own attachment style can be a game changer in relationships. 💡

But here’s the best part—attachment isn’t a life sentence. Through self-awareness, relationship work, and even therapy, you can remodel, heal, and grow into a more secure attachment. 💖✨

So… what’s your attachment style? Let’s overanalyze ourselves in the comments! ⬇️😆

🎨 You don’t need to be “good” at art to see an art therapist✨Art therapy is like a creative mental gym—a space to process, explore, and express what words can’t always capture.

Talking is great, but sometimes what you really need isn’t another conversation—it’s someone who gets it. Someone who gives you the space to figure things out without rushing you to define or explain who you are.

navigating the world of biracial relationships, especially as an Asian woman dating a white man, can bring a unique set of reflections and challenges. Often, there’s a lingering question: " Is there an genuine connection or am I seeking validation?" and "Am I truly loved for who I am, or am I seen as an experiment ?’ This question is more than valid. It’s a reflection of a deeper concern for authenticity and respect in our relationship?

Many of us have experienced moments of feeling like outsiders in predominantly white societies, which can shape our perceptions of relationships.

When choosing a partner, we might unknowingly revisit past traumas. The longing to be ‘chosen’ by someone who represents what we once perceived as unattainable can mirror our childhood experiences of exclusion.
It’s essential to explore whether these feelings stem from a genuine connection or if we’re unconsciously seeking affirmation of our worth.

This journey of self-discovery and understanding in our relationships is complex. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but opening up these conversations can be the first step towards clarity and healing. What are your thoughts or experiences on this topic?”

The hidden cost of always being 乖 (gwai1)
As an art psychotherapist, I’ve worked with so many individuals who share a similar background—growing up as 好乖嘅小朋友 ( the well-behaved child). Now, in their mid-30s, they still struggle to connect with their true selves. Why? Because they spent their entire childhood masking their own feelings and needs, chasing the validation that came with earning their parents’ approval. In many Asian cultures, 乖 (gwai1) symbolizes obedience, conformity, and meeting expectations. But how does this deeply ingrained value influence who we become in today’s world? While 乖 can promote respect and harmony, it often comes with the unspoken burden of becoming a people pleaser, making it difficult to prioritize your own needs and boundaries.

When being 乖 hinders personal growth
True personal growth often calls for questioning traditions, embracing individuality, and sometimes diverging from the expectations of being the “perfect” child.

Redefining 乖: Embracing individuality
Being 乖 doesn’t mean sacrificing yourself for others. It can mean honoring your cultural roots while carving out your own unique path and defining what success truly looks like for you.

You don’t need to be your parents’ unfulfilled dreams
Your life is not meant to compensate for the dreams your parents couldn’t realize. Authentic self-acceptance means creating a life that reflects your own values, not someone else’s unfinished aspirations.

I'm a gaai mei bao 雞尾包aka cocktail bun.
I'm made from leftover of the bakery.
I wish I could feel whole and valued, like I'm more than just the sum of my parts.

Sometimes I feel like I'm just a mishmash of leftovers.I know I should appreciate myself more, but it's hard when I constantly feel overlooked and unimportant. Is it possible to find acceptance and belonging, even when you feel like you're just a leftover?

I struggle to find the right words to express these complex feelings. It's as if they're trapped inside me, begging to be set free but lacking the vocabulary to do so.

Experience the transformative power of nonverbal expression in our art therapy sessions. Join our trilingual art therapy waiting list at bio and embark on self-discovery journey, where language is not a barrier but a bridge to healing and understanding.
