What’s that popping sound during an adjustment? 🫧🍾
Nope — we’re not cracking bones!
Some chiropractic or osteopathic adjustments produce a sound that’s often compared to uncorking a champagne bottle. That pop is simply the release of gas from the joint — a natural result of pressure changes inside the joint space.
Here’s what’s actually happening:
🦴 Your joints contain fluid and gases like nitrogen and carbon dioxide
💨 When gently adjusted, a quick stretch in the joint creates a pressure drop
✨ This causes gas bubbles to release — and that’s the sound you hear!
✅ It’s safe
✅ It doesn’t mean the joint was “out of place”
