The Met Office has issued a Yellow weather alert for heat across the north east this weekend ☀️🌡️

Don't forget to:
- Drink plenty of fluids and avoid excess alcohol during the hot weather 🫗
- Avoid extreme physical exertion during the hot weather. If you can’t avoid strenuous outdoor activity, try to do it during cooler time of the day such as the early morning or the evening 🏃‍♂️
- Keep your home cool by closing windows and curtains in rooms that face the sun 🪟

We are aware of cases across our sites involving children swallowing small magnets. This may be linked to a viral social media trend where children are copying tongue piercings by placing magnets in their mouths.

Swallowing magnets can be extremely dangerous and may cause serious internal injuries. In some cases, emergency treatment or surgery may be needed.

Please stay alert and talk to the children and young people in your care about the risks of this trend.

To celebrate International Nurses Day, we had the pleasure of welcoming Emily, aged 3, who already dreams of becoming a nurse one day 💙

During her special visit, Emily met with our Executive Director of Nursing, Marion Dickson, to learn more about the important roles and responsibilities that nurses carry out every day. She even had the chance to practise her techniques on our Bright Northumbria Healthcare Charity charity mascot, Sunny, who can confirm the care was excellent.

It was a truly heartwarming experience, reminding us all that the future of nursing is in very safe (and very small) hands 🩺
