The team on the Hyperacute Stroke Unit at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital has become the first ever team to receive a Healthwatch Northumberland Stellar Award.

The Stellar Awards celebrate the people and services who go the extra mile to provide outstanding health and social care experiences for people across Northumberland.

The team was nominated by Stella from Northumberland, in recognition of the exceptional, compassionate care staff provided to her late husband and to their wider family.

Stella highlighted the team’s sensitivity, clear and thoughtful communication, and the dignity shown throughout an incredibly difficult time — as well as the strong teamwork that helped make that experience more manageable.
