🗣️Keynote Speaker Announcement 🗣️

We’re pleased to announce Dr Miriam Albers as a keynote speaker at the CORE Information Retrieval Forum 2026.

Dr Albers is Head of the Department Library at ZB MED, one of Europe’s leading specialist libraries for life sciences, with deep expertise in open access, scholarly publishing and strategic library leadership. She has played a central role in shaping the future direction of research information services through openness and collaboration.

🎤 Keynote title: OLSPub: An update on the OLSPub initiative (an alternative to PubMed)

✍️ Keynote synopsis: In this keynote, Miriam will challenge how we think about resilience in research infrastructure. Rather than focusing on fear, scale or dominance, she will explore how open, collaborative alternatives such as OLSPub can strengthen discovery, safeguard access to knowledge and offer credible new models for the future.

🗣️Keynote Speaker Announcement 🗣️

We’re delighted to be joined by Julie Glanville at the CORE Information Retrieval Forum 2026.

Julie is a highly respected independent consultant in information retrieval, with over 30 years’ experience in systematic reviews. She is co-author of the Cochrane Handbook chapter on searching for evidence and co-manager of the ISSG Search Filter Resource and SuReInfo HTA handbook, resources that many of us rely on daily.

🎤 Keynote title: Developing searches to identify research evidence – what is the role of AI?

✍️Keynote synopsis: With AI tools for evidence identification evolving at pace, Julie will explore what the current research evidence tells us about using AI for search strategy development, search planning and study identification. From an evidence synthesis perspective, she’ll also address how we can evaluate AI tools and, crucially, how information specialists can keep up to date in this rapidly changing space.

🙌Supporting the renewal of the Women’s Health Strategy🙌

Yesterday’s announcement from the Department of Health and Social Care - DHSC marks an important step forward in tackling inequalities and improving access to care for women across England.

At the NIHR Innovation Observatory we share this commitment. Our horizon scanning, evidence work and technology briefings continue to inform research, innovation, and policy decisions that can make a tangible difference to women’s health outcomes.

There is an abundance of outputs on our resources page (https://ow.ly/P9LW50Xhvb6) but here are some examples:

⭐NIHR Women’s Health Challenge: Supporting prioritisation through intelligence synthesis: https://ow.ly/gjET50Xhvb5

⭐Menotrophin pre-filled pen for treating female infertility: https://ow.ly/pbKA50Xhvb9

⭐Elinzanetant for treating vasomotor symptoms caused by adjuvant endocrine therapy in women with hormone-receptor positive breast cancer: https://ow.ly/yWhO50Xhvb7

⭐Elinzanetant for the treatment of moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes) associated with the menopause:
https://io.nihr.ac.uk/techbriefings/elinzanetant-for-the-treatment-of-moderate-to-severe-vasomotor-symptoms-hot-flashes-associated-with-the-menopause/

From fertility and menopause to cancer care, our analyses aim to shine a light on innovations that can improve diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life for women.

As the Women’s Health Strategy is renewed, we look forward to continuing our collaboration across research, industry, and the NHS, ensuring innovation works for everyone.
