On my first day of practice with , while I was in , she came to assist and said follow my signal. Next thing I know, I'm standing up!!!
I hadn't experienced rising up from wheel before; so at that point, what my body did my mind couldn't believe it'd happened.
If there is something that I've come to be aware of is how much the mind can influence the body.
On the mat of course, there are both physical limitations and new range of movements to be discovered but; equally and, more importantly if I may say, the mind state plays a crucial role.
If you are giving more attention to your thoughts than needed, the outcome will most probably be on the lines of these, whatever they might be.
On the contrary, if you flow and move in the -now- moment (t=0), the mind does not even have a chance to come into play.
Dropping back to my example; I didn't have a clue of what was about to happen, I wasn't even thinking of rising up for that matter. My mind was thoughtless for that tiny fraction of time and had no previous experience to cling itself too.
"There" is where the magic happens.
While this is probably the toughest part of the practice (hands up beginner number 1 here), rooting in the body and coming back to the breath again and again is the trick to the .
And if the mind wants to take control; for pure practicality, make it work in your favour and wisely choose the quality of your thinking.
