After just over one year of launching our Community Walking Group, we are sad to announce that our last group walk as Life Lived Better will take place on Thursday 25th September 2025.
When we started the group in early 2024, our intention was to provide something that was accessible to our local community, walking and talking to improve mental health and to have a small impact on physical health. Gyms can be intimidating places for some people, while sport can be difficult to access for a whole host of health reasons. We hoped the Walking Group would fill that void and provide an alternative and initially, it really did, with over 40 walkers regularly attending our groups.
However, as the months went on and the winter hit, group numbers dwindled. We really hoped they’d pick back up in Spring and Summer, but sadly this has not been the case.
In January, we also introduced an annual £12 fee which we acknowledge has probably put some people off attending the group. However, this was something we had to do to cover Insurance costs, training and equipment costs such as first aid.
On top of this, all 3 of us have had major changes in our lives, with house moves and career changes impacting the amount of free time we have, which has impacted our ability to really focus on and grow the group.
All of this has ultimately meant we’ve decided we need to step away from the group. We are however open to discussing handing the group over if someone feels it’s something they could take on and grow (please message our page if so). In the meantime, it would be brilliant to see any of our former members on a walk between now and 25th September.
Finally, to our regular members, we honestly can’t thank all of you enough for coming along every week, in all sorts of weather, to make sure you all had a little bit of time to yourself and time to focus on you. We will miss seeing you all every week.
