🌙 A Little Reflection on Sleep, Breath & What I’ve Been Learning Lately 🌙

Through my work as a Bio-Tuning practitioner, I’ve become so aware of how deeply people relax during sessions - many clients fall asleep, which is one of the loveliest side-effects of settling into the body. ✨

But as I’ve watched people rest, I’ve also noticed something else: signs that may be associated with sleep apnea. This curiosity led me down a rabbit hole of research… and what I’ve discovered is both fascinating and a little alarming. The impact untreated sleep apnea can have on overall health is far bigger than many people realise.

Even though I don’t have sleep apnea myself, I did spot something: I was waking with my mouth open and my mouth felt a bit dry in the mornings. So, knowing it was safe for me personally, I experimented with mouth taping to encourage nasal breathing at night.

✨ Important note: Mouth taping isn’t suitable for everyone and can be dangerous for people with breathing issues or suspected sleep disorders. If you’re ever unsure, please check with a doctor first.

My experience was unexpectedly positive - I normally sleep well and wake up refreshed, but I noticed even more morning energy, a clearer head and a real sense of mental brightness. The more I learn, the more I appreciate how important nasal breathing is, not just during the day but especially while we sleep. Our bodies do so much repair and regulation during the night and the way we breathe plays a bigger role in that process than we often realise.

Recently, I also took part in an online training on how to unblock your nose and breathe clearly even when you have a cold. It was incredibly interesting and practical. This session was delivered by Laura Breathcorner and I can’t recommend her enough. She teaches everything from gentle breathwork foundations — making sure you’re breathing well at the most basic level — all the way to deeper transformational breathwork. She offers sessions for burnout, anxiety, emotional regulation, improving sports performance and so much more.

If you’re curious to explore your own breath, her resources are wonderful. You can check her out here: Laura breathcorner
