VACANCY - SUPPORT WORKER GATESHEAD (BSL LEVEL 2 ESSENTIAL)

This is an amazing opportunity to work with a wonderful young person who lives in their own home. They have Autism & Learning Disability and are supported by his staff team 2:1 to meet their wishes and needs, they are Deaf and require their staff to be fluent in BSL. They like structure and routine in their day and enjoy a range of activities, such as visiting new places, going on walks and places of interest. We need support staff who will work with them for the long term, to build trust and strong relationships. We need positive loyal, committed staff who are fun and enjoy having a laugh and being a little silly to enrich their life.

We are recruiting Full or Part Time Support Workers to work in the Gateshead area this role requires a qualification of level 2 or above BSL (British Sign Language). Or a background of life experience that you are fluent in BSL. Experience of support work is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided.

Rates of pay £14.20 per hour & £109 per sleep in - average annual salary £35,200 (based on 40 hours a week and 1 sleep a week) This role involves working weekends, evenings and sleep ins.

If you believe you have the following, then we want to hear from you -
- Social Care qualifications or any relevant skills supporting autistic individuals and people with a learning disability.
- Positive attitude, great values, principles and a commitment to support people to have a great life
- You are “Person centred” and believe in practice inclusiveness
- Experience of working with individuals who have behaviours that may challenge
- Effective BSL communication skills
- Have a clean UK driving licence

This support worker role is subject to Enhanced DBS check.

The concept for Orbis Support was born out of a conversation of how to deliver best possible support and practice to people with learning disabilities who choose to live in their own homes in the community. We passionately believe that our knowledge, experience and commitment to lead services unique to the people we support can and will lead to positive outcomes for each and every person who chooses to employ us. We are confident that we can combine top quality support, planning, technology and access to housing to achieve our goal.
