Over 1.5 Million people in the UK have a learning disability. Their communication skills may be impacted due to their learning disability. When speaking with an individual, take the time to understand their needs and what works for them.

🌟 We had an amazing day at The King's Trust ‘Get Hired in Social Care’ event! 🌟

Our recruitment team, Craig and Savannah, met some incredible young people who were excited to learn more about the opportunities and rewards of working in care. 💛

Individuals with a learning disability are all unique – there is no ‘one size fits all’. They might have difficulty understanding complicated information, learning certain skills or looking after themselves and living alone. But it doesn’t mean they can’t live an independent, fulfilled life.

☀️Sunshine, smiles, and summer fun at Allendale! ☀️

The Allendale Summer Party was back with another fantastic afternoon of laughter, games, and sweet treats!

Organised by our brilliant office team – with a special shout-out to Sue for gathering an incredible selection of raffle prizes – the day was a real community celebration.

Friends from Allendale and Holmes Close came together to enjoy cakes, sweets, games, and even a few bubble wand moments. 🫧

Events like this are the highlights of our year, bringing joy to the people we support – and it’s all thanks to the teamwork of our colleagues.

Autistic people may have different communication styles – the way they use and understand words, tone of voice, body language and gestures are processed differently. Sometimes an autistic person will communicate in unique ways, such as: writing or sign language, through gestures or sounds, or by using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
