At Connected In Nature CIC we are always learning more about neurodiversity and exploring the advantages and disadvantages of diagnosis with conditions like ADHD and Autism.

Understanding yourself and having greater levels of compassion are definite advantages to a diagnosis.

Through studying childhood trauma and neurodiversity I recognised how some of my own challenges and gifts fit the ADHD picture. Researching and studying a broad range of credible perspectives has supported me no end. I am on the pathway for a diagnosis but unsure if I actually want or need it, having learned many coping and adaption strategies that help me to make the most out of my neurodiversity!

Thank you to Burnside Primary School for this wonderful testimony!

"Our outdoor learning sessions were a highly positive experience for all children.

The activities met key National Curriculum objectives by helping pupils learn about local nature, explore habitats, and create art using natural materials.
The sessions also provided behavioural and emotional support, giving children space to regulate, work together, and build confidence.

Many pupils who find classroom learning challenging showed improved focus and engagement outdoors.
It was particularly successful for pupils with SEND, who benefited from hands‑on tasks, sensory experiences, movement, and clear adult support.
Every child was able to take part and experience success.

Through nature crafts, team games, and exploration, pupils developed their knowledge of the natural environment while learning to show care, respect and responsibility when interacting with wildlife and outdoor spaces.

Overall, the sessions were enjoyable, inclusive, and purposeful, helping children learn, feel calm, and connect with nature."

- P Renwick, Deputy Head, Burnside Primary School

Welcoming Spring this weekend heralded by the Equinox this Friday!

Celebrating the growth and expansion of outdoor learning and connection opportunities across County Durham and Darlington.

Equinox, meaning equal night, one of the only two days a year where the sun shines directly over the equator.

The spring or Vernal Equinox is celebrated by many cultures, some even class it as the new year!
Known as Dragon days in old Celtic cultures, these days symbolise balance, renewal and rebirth.
We wish you a sense of renewal, joy and balance this Equinox season ☀️ 🌷

If you are an individual, organisation or school interested in what we can offer you please get in touch or check out our website and sign up to our monthly newsletter, we would love to connect 😊

“This provision is vital for my two neurodivergent boys. My youngest boy always comes home smelling faintly like camp fire with a smile on his face. He has ADHD and this gives him the chance to slow down and calm his mind. My eldest is in the midst of his GCSE’s and this provision gives him chance to relax, helping him to manage his more stressful days and build his resilience and coping strategies.”
