At 11am today we fall silent as we honour the end of the war to end all wars. It is beyond sad that this didn’t come true. On this day 1918, according to family legend, F.R. Appleton was killed. He wouldn’t recognise this modern world, or his great niece thinking of him on Facebook. Thank you is insufficient but, along with remembering, it is all we have.
