Design has a powerful role to play in improving mental health, not just through products, but through experiences that genuinely change how people feel, cope and recover. Across the North East, we’re seeing incredible innovation that blends creativity, psychology and technology to support those facing mental health challenges.
One standout example is Therapeutics in Gateshead, who are pioneering the use of immersive digital environments to support therapy. Their approach uses controlled, personalised virtual reality scenarios to help individuals gradually overcome anxiety related conditions. It’s a brilliant demonstration of how thoughtful design and emerging technologies can create safer, more effective therapeutic experiences.
At E3Design, we believe innovation should always serve people first. Whether it’s designing accessible products, improving user experiences, or championing wellbeing in the workplace, the future of design lies in solutions that support both physical and mental health.
Human centred design isn’t just good practice, it’s a pathway to better lives.
