Our next Baby Sleep Workshop is on Thursday 26 th February 10-1pm

Pregnant and unsure what to expect of your baby’s sleep? Or are you a new parent and nights feel unsustainable for you?

There is a ton of conflicting advice out there, which even for a non-sleep deprived brain can be overwhelming! And guess what? Your child’s sleep needs will differ from your friends, sisters, next door neighbours, parent influencer on instagram’s child…

You’re unlikely to have time to read the books and analyse the data - so let us do that for you! In this masterclass we deliver an evidenced based overview of the science behind sleep, bust baby myths and share responsive strategies rooted in attachment science.

We will cover:

Your baby’s natural sleep biology - how sleep works! This will help you create an environment for better naps, bedtimes and overnight sleep
What is normal for infant sleep
What isn’t normal and how/when to seek help for this
Individual temperament & attachment
The 4 month sleep “regression
Infant development in the first year and its impact on sleep
How to effectively read your baby’s tiredness cues
Safe Sleep (including co-sleeping) And how to lay the foundations for good sleep hygeine
This class is all about empowering you with the knowledge, nurturing your parenting instincts and helping you to be responsive (so ditching the cookie-cutter sleep schedules or “rules” that may dominate your social media algorithm!) You do not need to leave your baby to cry or “teach” them how to sleep. Babies wake overnight - it’s normal - but you can learn how to shape sleep responsively so that they sleep at their biological best!

2025…. What a year for Bump Baby and Beyond!

In antenatal classes I’ve supported 204 pregnant people as they prepare to welcome their little ones into the world. I’ve been lucky enough to meet most of those babies once they were born and then welcome them into my baby classes!

In baby massage and baby yoga classes I’ve shared laughs, tears and hugs with new parents. I’ve been privileged to be there for first smiles, giggles, rolls, crawls, and steps…. Just magic!

In my toddler classes I’ve had the best time with all my little mates who never fail to bring the smiles, cuddles and one liners that make my heart so happy ❤️

I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the best of the best - who have joined the BBB team to expand on the amazing sessions on offer. I know 100% there is no better antenatal course out there in the north east.
A huge thank you to jogipsonphysio amandadunbaribclc howlingatthemoon_uk for all your support and expertise this year!

The biggest thank you goes to every single client who has chosen and trusted me and my little business. It’s such a difficult time for small businesses at the moment, and your continued support means the world to me.

I can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store!

Birth refresher workshops are designed for those who have given birth before and would like some education and support going into labour and birth again. I absolutely love delivering these sessions, they are so supportive and open up lots of really interesting conversations about past birth experiences, navigating the maternity services, choice and control.

The feedback from clients is amazing and I’m looking forward to running more of these sessions in 2026!

The next session is Wednesday 7th January 2026 6-9 pm Trinity Centre Gosforth

10 Days of questions about the BBB antenatal course

Question 10: what is your background?

A question I get asked a lot- and one I would really encourage you to ask when you book an antenatal course!

I’m Linzy, founder of Bump Baby and Beyond, antenatal teacher, daisy perinatal educator, hypnobirthing instructor, registered midwife, baby massage and yoga instructor, starting solids facilitator, and complete birth and baby fanatic. I qualified as a midwife 25 years ago and instantly had a passion for antenatal education. I worked within the NHS for over 15 years and whilst working as parent education lead midwife in a local NHS trust I decided that if I was to truly embrace my passion for supporting, educating and empowering people in their pregnancies I needed to branch out and develop my own courses and teach outside of the NHS…And Bump Baby and Beyond was born. I have a first class honours degree in Midwifery Studies, a wealth of experience working within the maternity services, and since setting up BBB I have provided over one thousand local families with antenatal education and support.

I absolutely love my job, there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t leave my classes with the biggest smile on my face. It’s a privilege to meet such wonderful people during such a special time in their lives. Our journeys together often begin in pregnancy but then continue for weeks, months and sometimes years beyond.

I have 2 awesome babies of my own who have always been a huge driving force behind the work I do. My own experience of pregnancy, birth and parenting have taught me so much and fuelled the passion for the work I do !

10 Days of questions about the BBB antenatal course

Question 8: There are so many negative things in the press about the maternity services. Do you talk about any of those?

The short answer is yes. And in my opinion you shouldn’t attend an antenatal course unless it does talk about some of these issues. There are massive flaws in the provision of care in the maternity services and people accessing the system need to be aware of them, and what they can do to navigate the complexities they will face.

There is absolutely no point spending weeks discussing the hormones of labour, twinkly lights, pools and breathing techniques if you then enter an environment or system that doesn’t support anything that you’ve hoped or planned for. ( not that I’m saying learning those things are useless- they are indeed very important, they just need to be part of a much bigger education package).

So what kind of things do we talk about?

👶🏼Place of birth, including restriction of provision
👶🏼Birth choices and ensuring your choices are supported
👶🏼Decision making strategies and having the confidence to challenge the opinions of health professionals if needed
👶🏼Informed consent, informed choice and coercion
👶🏼Accessing evidence based information
👶🏼knowing your rights
👶🏼The increased use of medical intervention- understanding the reasons behind this and knowing by what’s right for you
👶🏼Understanding the reasons behind birth trauma and negative birth experiences, and how the care we receive can affect our experience

❤️Note to say- it’s also important to acknowledge all the amazing things that the maternity services offer… so of course we do that too! ❤️

Be informed. Be educated. Be empowered. Be confident. Sign up now!

10 Days of questions about the BBB Antenatal course

Question 7: I’m probably going to have an induction or c section- is the course mainly about natural labour?

Absolutely not! The labour section of the course covers all types of labour/ birth scenarios so that you are prepared for whatever journey your labour may take you on. We do spend a lot of time discussing spontaneous labour and the hormones and emotions that are involved in that process, including what can help and hinder the process because I am a true believer that you can only understand why complications in labour might occur if you firstly understand the process of undisturbed and uninterrupted labour and birth.

But we also spend a lot of time discussing why and when medical intervention may be needed, be that induction, c section, epidural, assisted vaginal birth. We also spend a lot of time gaining the confidence and decision making tools that you might need to help make those choices regarding medical intervention, to make sure that you make the best decisions for you and your baby.

We think about all scenarios and what our personal preferences may be in each of those scenarios so that we go into labour feeling informed, confident and empowered ❤️

10 Days of questions about the BBB antenatal course

Question 6: What can my partner expect from the classes? They are bit nervous about attending!

I get asked this question a lot. The feedback that I get is once a partner walks through the door and enters the classes they are instantly reassured and made to feel completely comfortable and at ease. I explain the content of the course, and that there are absolutely no activities in the class that will ever make anyone ever feel embarrassed or uncomfortable.

Partners are always fascinated to learn about the hormonal and emotional process of birth, and that it is so different to the mechanical process they thought it was. They learn practical support tips, how to protect the birth environment, how to communicate preferences with staff, and how to advocate for their partners. They leave feeling confident having developed the strategies they may need if medical intervention is needed during the birth, and how to make sure decisions made are the right ones for their partners and their babies.

In the baby section of the course they learn all of the practical skills they need to care for their new baby- holding, bathing, winding, nappy changes and much more. They learn about newborn behaviour, instincts and how to comfort them. They are educated about infant feeding, and how they can support their partners through those early weeks of establishing feeding.

They also develop a network of other parents that they can rely on for support and encouragement in those early stages of becoming a parent.

There are lots of reviews on the social media pages from mums, dads, and grandparents alike…..

Question 5: Do you cover infant feeding?

Absolutely… the course doesn’t just focus on labour and birth. We dedicate 1 out of the 6 sessions to infant feeding. The session is led by both myself and Amanda Dunbar (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). The session covers everything you need to know about the early days of breastfeeding, and the feedback from this session is amazing. We also cover mixed feeding and using infant formula for clients who are planning to formula feed their babies.

Many of the mums who have done the course who then have difficulty breastfeeding also then have follow up support appointments with Amanda, and find it reassuring that they have met her before and are confident in her vast range of knowledge and experience ❤️

Question 4: Will I make friends?

The friendships you make in the antenatal classes will prove to be invaluable in those early days, weeks, months and in some cases years of parenting. They will be your cheerleaders, your middle of the night WhatsApp buddies, be there to share your highs and lows. The friendships and community that has grown because of Bump Baby and Beyond is undoubtedly one of the things I’m most proud of ❤️
