Football for mental health in Northumberland!⚽

Ran by our Northumberland Recovery College (NRC), our football group ‘Level Headers’ began in 2024, and provides the men that attend the opportunity to take care of their wellbeing, build connections, and improve their mental health – all while playing football!

What began as a 5-a-side session originally, now has enough attendees to use the full pitch. Each week, the session sees around 25-35 people turning up to play– even in the rain.

On Friday’s session, NRC were joined by Show Racism the Red Card, Grassroots Football UK, and former professional footballer as left-back for Newcastle United, Olivier Bernard!

The Level Headers group has had a huge amount of interest, bringing together people of all ages, backgrounds and cultures in an environment where people can connect with each other, learn from each other, build friendships, and talk about their mental health 💜

We're feeling really proud of each and every one of our colleagues, whether they work directly with people we support or behind the scenes, they have supported thousands more people in new ways across the country where help is desperately needed 💜

We're also so proud and grateful to work with the NHS and our partners 🤝

Hope in the Dark charity Christmas concert 2025🎄🎶

On Wednesday, we held our first ever Christmas concert to help raise funds for our crisis support services. Hosted at St Mary's Heritage Centre in Gateshead! 📍

We were joined by Fortissimo Community Choir and The Whole Shebang band, who kindly volunteered to perform at the event. To say they raised the roof would be an understatement! 🎶

We had several poems and pieces of artwork on display, all created by people that have accessed our services 🎨

We heard from Cassidy, Case Worker here at Everyturn, who shared her experience in our crisis support services, and how she now works in our services providing that same support to people during their toughest times 💜

We heard from James, our Crisis Services Manager, who shared with us an insight into a few of of our crisis support services, and how they're so important for the people that need them 💜

We also heard from Adam, Chief Executive here at Everyturn, to welcome us all in and remind us why crisis support services are so needed 💜

We also shared messages of hope, to remind people that no matter what they're going through that there is always hope.

And we're really grateful that we could have all of these moments and memories captured by James, who kindly volunteered to photograph the event 📷

We'd also like to thank Northern Print Solutions for in-kind printed event programmes, and all our other suppliers who helped make the evening such a success 💜

There were tears, laughter, and joy throughout the entire night. We're overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who came, all of our volunteers, and everyone who has supported us this year.

From all of us at Everyturn - thank you ❤️

We're feeling really grateful! 💜

This week, Hays Travel Wallsend have donated over 60 selection boxes for children and young people in our Streetwise service! The Hays Travel team kindly asked their customers if they'd like to donate a selection box for local children and young people, and so far they've donated over 60 selection boxes.

This week, our Streetwise team have been able to provide every young person who attended a counselling session, and every young person who attended one of our community youth hubs, with their own selection box thanks to the Hays Travel team 🎁

We'd like to say a huge thank you to Hays Travel Wallsend for helping us bring an extra bit of Christmas joy to children and young people this year! 🎄
