Good as Gold is staffed in accordance with government standards. In the Baby Room we have provision for 12 babies (0-2) with a staffing ratio of 1:3. In the Toddler Suite we can cater for up to 37 children with a staffing ratio of 1:4 for 2 year olds, and 1:8 for 3 and 4 year olds. The Officer-in-Charge holds a BA(Hons) Degree in Early Years, and has also achieved Early Years Teacher Status. All K

Graduation Night 2025
Behind every child that believes in themselves is a teacher that believed in them first. Children can achieve anything given the right encouragement and support and my children definitely proved that this year! Graduation is about celebrating our children's achievements and we did it in style! A very emotional but very memorable evening!

All our children have made excellent progress in preschool this year. Yes, practically all of them can write their names, they all know about numbers up to 5, most up to 10, they can all recognise colours and shapes and have been learning about letters and sounds, but more importantly, they have learnt to be a good friend. They all have their own friendship groups, but they also play so well together, and if someone's best friend is missing they will be accepted without question into another group. They have all grown in confidence and will share their thoughts and ideas about what they would like to do next, becoming active participants in their learning, initiating activities and finding their own next steps in their development. They will actively initiate interactions with adults and their peers. They have developed a love of learning. They know how to use good manners and do so without prompting. They are all independent and can take care of their own personal needs, stepping in to help others if they are struggling to fasten their coat or need help to find a missing welly. They understand the rules and expectations in nursery and behave exceptionally well, most of the time! They can talk about their emotions and explain how they are feeling and why. They work together as a team and look out for each other. That is what school readiness is about! My job here is done. It is time to let my little children spread their wings and fly, and they are going to thrive!

The final piece of artwork we looked at this week was Tableau II by Mondrian. The children followed the instructions to draw lines from top to bottom and across and then fill in the spaces with colours. Once again they did a fantastic job! I have been really impressed with the pictures the children have created this week. They have concentrated and listened really well and have been very proud of their artwork.

Today we took a walk to the Stone Man, a monument dedicated to the memory of the quarrymen of the area who worked in and around Stacksteads, the Valley of Stone. The children drew the statue and then returned to nursery to paint their pictures. What a fantastic job they did! Excellent work preschool!!
