TMJ Therapy is a light touch soft tissue therapy for easing issues stemming from imbalances in the musculoskeletal structures involved in TMj (jaw joint) function💀💙💚🖤

Symptoms can range from pain, discomfort or abnormal sensations to restricted movement around the joint & in areas further away in the body.

Fritillary, a pretty Spring flower that makes me smile everyday, a reminder to get out in the garden & start growing!🌿💚🩵🖤

Statistically, the lawnmower is the largest cause of gardening accidents in the UK🧐
But aside from severed limbs & other flesh wounds (chortle), gardening poses the risk of soft tissue injuries, such as sprains or strains. When the avid gardener launches straight into full on gardening mode after a winter of reduced activity, without proper thought to adequately warming up or cooling down before & after, they are just as at risk of sports injury as an athlete running the marathon!💚🩵🖤

Preparation can be as simple as taking a walk around the garden before & after working, or any low level activity that will activate the muscles that will be engaged during the gardening session - think squats for all that bending down.💚🩵🖤

And of course, bodywork to help address any postural issues, fascial restrictions & movement imbalances, setting your body up for success instead of disaster! (I mean, who else will look after your plants while you are recovering from a torn ACL???!)💚🩵🖤

It's the end of neurodiversity celebration week.
It's important to celebrate neurodiversity to educate & encourage greater acceptance in society, but celebration should not distract from the challenges & struggles neurodivergent people may face on a daily basis💚🩵🖤

As a constellation encompassing a range of neurodevelopmental conditions, these challenges are varied & unique to each individual💚🩵🖤

Some examples include:
👉nervous system dysregulation
👉emotional dysregulation
👉sensory sensitivities
👉sleep issues
👉food related issues
👉proprioceptive issues (coordination )
👉vestibular issues (balance)
👉issues with fine motor skills

Sleep... a vastly underrated tool in supporting our physical & emotional health & wellbeing!
But are you getting enough?💚🩵🖤

The average recommended sleep for healthy adults is at least 7 hours per night, more for babies, children & teens who are still growing💚🩵🖤

Sleep is vital for cell repair, supporting all body systems, & for the brain to process the events of the day, through dreaming, supporting mental & emotional balance💚🩵🖤

Sleep quality can be affected by stress, anxiety, hormonal imbalances, physical pain & poor breathing habits (such as breathing through the mouth instead of the nose)💚🩵🖤

With the upcoming clock changes it might be time to start perparing your body for the change in sleep patterns that accompany the transition into Spring. Practicing good sleep hygiene (eg not using screens in the last hour before going to bed, keeping the bedroom cool instead of hot, heading to bed before midnight) is a great start to creating healthy sleep habits💚🩵🖤

Bodywork therapies, such as The Bowen Technique, are a good way of helping you deal with the more problematic issues you may have which interfere with sleep quality, such as a dysregulated nervous system, musculoskeletal aches, pains or tension & even poor breathing habits💚🩵🖤

On today, International Women's Day, a reminder to all women that your body is amazing, whatever shape or size it is💪💚🩵🖤

Your body has the resilience to withstand multiple hormonal fluctuations each month from adolescence! Capable of sustaining, delivering & nurturing new life 💚🩵🖤

Ocassionally however, a birthing experience may not go as expected - I have been there, I understand!💚🩵🖤

When delivery is made by c-section a woman is left with a lifelong scar - much like any other scar it can feel wierd, it can feel a bit icky, it might snag or pull in certain places & it might trigger memories of stressful or traumatic events 💚🩵🖤

I'm loving the sights of early spring!🌼💚🩵🖤

They are like gentle reminders of how we have survived the winter & now must focus on nurturing ourselves back into action💚🩵🖤

Lots of things to consider when thinking about our bodies at this time of year. Here is a list:
*Altered sleep patterns - as the days get longer & the clocks change, what is the impact on our body's repair system if we are getting less sleep?
*Increased outdoor activities - gardening, dog walking, outdoor sports etc can get more intense as we all want to make the most of the sunshine! But are you making sure you are adequately warming up & cooling down pre & post activity? Are you preparing your body well enough relative to the activity to prevent strains & sprains?
*Detoxification - following the sluggishness of winter, are you allowing your detox pathways the chance to to function at their best? Are you moving enough, drinking enough water, easting the right foods for your body to help keep it clean inside?
*Allergies - for some the spring & summer are not so positive. Are you taking steps NOW to prevent inflammatory responses to allergens & limit reliance on allopathic medicine so they are only needed on the really bad days during allergy season?
*Stress - are you reminding yourself to breathe, to take time to enjoy nature, to let your body relax & enjoy just being?

McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release is a light touch bodywork practice.💚🩵🖤

Some of the benefits of scar tissue release therapy include:
💚changes in how the scar feels
🩵reductions in pain & restrictions in other areas of the body caused by scar tissue adhesions
🖤changes in the individual's perceptions of their scar & acceptance of how they got it

C-Section scars have the potential to develop a number of physical issues throughout the body, both in the superficial & deeper tissues.
Examples include frequent back pain, poor lymphatic drainage in the lower leg, digestive issues & other abdominal problems.💚🩵🖤

Furthermore, c-section delivery is often given under traumatic or stressful circumstances, occasionally with outcomes the mother hadn't expected, so each c-section scar has the potential to create emotional memories of those events💚🩵🖤

Our Story

The Bowen Technique/Canine Bowen Therapy is a complementary physical therapy which uses gentle rolling moves over soft tissue interspersed with breaks .

Relief from pain & discomfort, reduced stiffness & muscular tension, increased relaxation & a boost to wellbeing are some of the results often reported by clients after a series of 2-4 treatments.
