The dryer weather has allowed us to progress with some ground based jobs recently, one of which was to prepare and plant a new Portuguese Laurel hedge for our customer in Newick.

After lifting the turf we rotorvated the soil before adding around half a tonne of soil improver which was then in turn rotorvated in well to produce the perfect bed for planting.

We planted 100 quality Portuguese Laurels which were supplied to us direct from our grower.

Within the next 5 years this hedge will establish to the finishing target height of around 5ft.

A look back at a job we completed last spring in Newick and something a little different to our usual projects.

After the completion of building work at the property the garden required a complete restoration having endured damage during the works.

After clearing the remaining vegetation we scraped off and removed several tonnes of poor quality subsoil, erected oak sleeper raised beds, added brick edging and backfilled with fresh high grade topsoil before turfing to finish.

A fantastic transformation and a wonderful space for our customers to enjoy.

We recently had the task of clearing and area of trees and debris from Lambourn Gill, a tributary of the river Ouse near Newick.

A natural dam had formed over time where a significant amount of debris had built up against a large multi stem Willow that was growing across the stream causing flooding upstream during high rainfall periods.

With use of our digger and grab we were able to clear all the debris and cut back the Willow allowing the stream to flow freely once again and alleviate any further risks of flooding.
