🔊As we close our focus on building strength in the legs in my yoga for runners’ classes, I wanted to share a little synchronicity and a reminder that yoga can make you strong 💪 as well as flexible 🥨

Let me know what you think and PT friends feel free to critique my weighted lunge form! 🧐

Genuine quote! 💬 Want to come to a yoga class where you’re SO relaxed that you don’t remember a poem being read during Savasana? Or perhaps you simply heard the first line and thought that was it? 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m now taking bookings for June classes. There’s no Bank Holiday or other disruption, meaning classes run every week. 🙌

I also have two spaces in my Cheveley yoga for runners’ class tomorrow at 1830. If you missed out because of the Bank Holiday or simply prefer to book nearer the time, then get in touch 📧

Last year I gave my students acorns from the big oak tree in our garden as a symbol of hope. It’s been great to see some of them have germinated. Thanks to those of you who have sent me photos. From tiny acorns mighty oaks grow!🌳

The giant sunflower seeds from my Bloom and Grow retreat 🌸 have also germinated. They’ve been interesting to watch as they’re a little leggy and some are stronger than others. So many life analogies I could make! I’ve also sown some directly outside to see which flourish best.🌻

Lastly my Oxalis Triangularis is blooming! These plants go dormant in the winter and I wasn’t sure if it would come back.🪦

There’s something so satisfying about watching things grow and I love this sign that I saw in a cafe today in tomorrow 💫

PICTURE THIS 📸
If you’ve been thinking about joining me on retreat but wondering whether it’s for you, here are just some of the people who come along and it’s definitely not only regulars:

• People who have never practised yoga with me before
• People who have never practised yoga at all!
• Friends celebrating a special occasion together
• Former colleagues catching up
• People who arrive not knowing anyone else in the group
• Mothers and daughters
• Fathers and daughters

You’re guaranteed a warm welcome on my retreats. There’s always the opportunity to connect with others, while also having time and space to yourself if that’s what you need.

So why not put yourself in the frame and join me in July? DM me for details or check the link in my stories.

“Niggles”, “injuries”, “enforced rest”. I’m hearing these words a lot at the moment.

Now, I’m not going to promise that coming to my yoga for runners’ classes means you’ll never get injured. But many running injuries are linked to:

🏃🏻‍♂️overtraining
🏃🏻‍♂️lack of strength work
🏃🏻‍♂️poor running form
🏃🏻‍♂️skipping recovery

Yoga can help with all of these.

In class we build strength, improve body awareness and form, and prioritise recovery - all things that support stronger, more resilient running.

So, if you want to support your running and stay more injury-resistant, I’ve got space on the mat this week. Get in touch to book. Your future joints will thank you 🙏

What a great way to end my week getting this message 🥰 I think we can all relate to getting our lefts and rights mixed up 😵‍💫

It was a bumper crowd at chair yoga this morning with a family member visiting from 🇺🇸 and a basket full of birthday cake (not mine) to share afterwards 🎂

As well as the physical benefits of the practice we all (myself included) get so much from coming together in community in this way 💕

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and one of the many things that will get cited as good for your mental health is yoga. If you want the research and stats then Google. If you want a real life example then read my latest blog.

Mind’s 2025 Big Mental Health Report highlighted mental health stigma is rising. One of the things we can do to address this is to talk openly about mental health.

The theme of Mental Health Awareness Week this year is “every action counts” so this is one of the ways I am taking action.

If anyone ever needs a chat you know where I am 💚

My relationship with yoga is longer than the one I have with my husband James. I can still remember those initial heady days. The arrival of my first proper yoga mat. A “sticky” mat which I thought was genius! I couldn’t wait for class and went twice a week. I was a yoga sponge wanting to abso...

A little slice of holiday — without the airport ✈️

Join me on Saturday 18 July in the tranquil Cambridgeshire countryside for a Body Holiday.

We’ll move, breathe, rest deeply, enjoy a delicious three-course lunch, and spend the afternoon unwinding on the hilltop spa immersing ourselves in the saunas, hot tubs, plunge pools, and beautiful countryside views.

No flights. No airport queues. No rushing to reserve a sun lounger.

Just space to reconnect, restore, and relax. 🤍

Limited spaces available.

For more details and to book visit my website. Link in my bio and stories.

Yoga is about being bendy right? 🥨 It won’t help you build strength? Wrong. If you’ve ever come into chair pose, your quads on fire 🔥 and the teacher asks if you can go any lower, tell me you haven’t groaned? 😩

As a post-menopausal woman I understand the importance of strength. Similarly, I know that strong quads, hamstrings and calves not only help keep me injury free but can make me a stronger runner.

I’m working hard to build strength using weights but also in my yoga practice. We can build strength on the mat and in the chair in a variety of ways 💪🏻

If you want to experience the strength of yoga and reap the benefits listed above, join me this month in class. Please don’t worry it will be too much. It’s a balanced class and there’s always options - including to come out of the pose and rest at any time.

Visit my website www.calmwithnicole.com for more details. I’d love to see you 😊
