Why do I have anxiety?

We’re very excited to be publishing a new blog today. In this article we explore why we feel increasingly anxious, even when we can’t put our finger on what the cause is. We also look at the signs that mean that us or our loved ones might wish to seek some support. If it’s interesting give it a share and if there’s anything else you’d like us to cover let us know in the comments.

Today was a really exciting day as we've just finished recording our first media appearance which will be released on Wednesday.

As part of an exciting collaboration with the wonderful mental health charity MQ, we've just released a new article exploring anxiety and how we can make it work for us instead of against us.

Mental health awareness week is nearly here and this years theme is anxiety. We'd love it if you could do your bit to raise awareness and share this article if you find it interesting.

Over the last decade the people I have worked with have told me about their varied experiences in trying to access support. Some of these experiences have been life changing but often people haven’t been offered what they’ve needed. People shared that they felt fitted into boxes, had to wait months for help, and their therapy was cut short before they really felt confident to manage on their own. Working out where to get the right help can be exhausting and isn’t helped by there being so many different kinds of therapists but so few regulated psychological professions. A more recent trend towards huge companies offering mass produced therapy without understanding the complexity of their clients or differences between their therapists’ skills has made the problem even more challenging. I so often heard people share that their bad experiences had made it so much harder to seek help again.

I wanted to work in a different way. I started Konnect Clinical Psychology with the aim of making sure everyone we see is treated as the complex and unique individual they are. Every clinician who works at Konnect is a Clinical Psychologist, one of the few regulated psychological professions and the highest-level professional qualification that can be obtained in the UK. This extensive training allows us to develop a genuine shared understanding of not just your difficulties, but your experiences that have brought you to this point, alongside your strengths, values, and goals. We don’t fit people into boxes. Instead, we use an advanced understanding of a range of evidence-based therapies to formulate a treatment plan that is as individual as you are.

I personally know and value every one of our Clinical Psychologists and protect their wellbeing to allow them to focus on yours. We strictly limit the number of clients each of us will work with at any one time meaning all our clients get quality therapy from a highly skilled professional that they can trust.

And that really sums up what Konnect is. Transparent, quality psychological support that understands you as an individual and values the wellbeing of our Clinical Psychologists as well as our clients.

I offer every one of our clients a free 15-minute consultation to make sure we are the best placed service to help. As a regulated Clinical Psychologist, I will also always recommend an alternative if there is another service better suited to your needs.
