Siobhan Gilligan McTimoney Animal Chiropractor

Siobhan Gilligan McTimoney Animal Chiropractor Siobhan is fully qualified in McTimoney animal Manipulation. McTimoney Chiropractic techniques aim to align and balance the animal's musculoskeletal system.

Having completed her masters degree which is the only validated course in Europe in teaching techniques for adjusting animals. Treatment is given using chiropractic techniques to align and balance the animal's musculoskeletal system. Like people, animals suffer from back, neck, pelvic and musculoskeletal problems and they can benefit from McTimoney treatment. This is achieved by manipulating any misaligned joints throughout the entire body, with special attention to the spine and pelvis, it helps both to restore and maintain health, soundness and performance. Most animals readily accept the treatment as only the practitioners hands are used and it focuses on speed and not force make the adjustments. The treatment of animals is currently regulated under the Veterinary Act. This means that permission from the animals usual vet needs to be sought before treatment. Permission can be obtained by the owner and usually involves a simple phone call. Siobhan will work closely with vets to ensure a safe, appropriate and effective treatment takes place. Signs that your animal may benefit from treatment include:

So today is the day I have been waiting for. 18 months later and I am finally going to say goodbye to my gall bladder. This does mean that I will need 2 weeks off from seeing all of your lovely animals and that the end of May is going to be very busy. Please do still contact me if you would like an appointment for June/July and if you need me desperately I can try and squeeze some more in at the end of May when I am back.

But for now wish me luck as I go for my first ever general anaesthetic surgery 🍀💚

I just wanted to share this with you to highlight the importance of regular saddle checks and also to keep it real that even us professionals aren’t always perfect.

This is a picture of Franco my 5 year old homebred Hannovarian and the gullet bar that he was in up until today’s saddle fit. He had this saddle checked and fitted by a master saddle fitter 6 months ago. Then he was a weak, leggy unbalanced 4 year old and had a medium gullet bar in. Recently I have been feeling a little perched on top of his shoulders and not very connected with him. He has been struggling to keep a consistent contact and finding it difficult to maintain the canter without changing his legs or dropping back into trot.

No wonder when you look at the gullet bar that fitted him perfectly only 6 months ago. Now it is sitting up high on his withers and putting pressure behind the shoulder. This would cause him to have sore withers and tension around the thoracolumbar region because my weight was being tipped to the back of the saddle putting excess pressure on that thoracolumbar region hence the switching of legs behind in canter and the falling back into trot.

After the saddler changed the gullet bar to a medium wide fit and adjusted the flocking slightly, the saddle became totally balanced again. Franco stopped fussing with his head and contact and you guessed it no changing of legs in the canter.

So tomorrow I am going to give him a well earned treatment and then continue slowly with his education. He has his first dressage competition coming up so watch this space! And please please have your saddle regularly checked by a qualified professional.
